Wow!! I used to be out of the Fontana terminal when I drove for Swift. We had a guy come in at Mira Loma with all of this great stuff about being a local driver, I asked him if it was co or lease, he said lease. I said to myself "uhhh, no thanks"

Thanks for confirming what I suspected.

Turbo trucker most of you're claims are not found. Not to say you are lieing, or nothing. however My point is I see pretty much ever noob driver freindly companys being raged, maybe with good reason. My point is with all that being said Who is a good one to go to. Just startting out, Or getting back into the field?? Far as bad driver at swift. Well thats the driver fault. They onlything they at fault at is hiring the idout. But fresh out of school companys are not going to have the best drivers no ways. I drove for 6mths OTR. Back in 1999 to 2000.

First werner then Nationwide. Werner I my experiences was a joke, Or atleast the parts of it. But each driver has different experiences of course. I got out to raise My sons. The way the Encomy is know. after driving 10 years on tow motor Im looking to coming back into feild If I have to. I love the job to a degree. But hard to a family man. Been 7 mths with no work. Time runing out. Got to do something. So Again I ask what would be the best lace to go?? I doing my homework trying to find best one to call. Cause 10 years out of it, So I like noob again. Any help would be nice:biggrin_255: Thank You!

It would be better if we knew where you were from...as your location (home) will either rule out, or pinpoint specific companies close to your home.

Sorry rambling on didn't think to put the state. Tennessee. I've notice alot new hiring companys tend to be big, And hire a large area. So didnt think about what state. But again. I would love to know who is the best company to start out, Or back into the feild of driving? To me it seesm all the company's allowing new comers. Use, And abuse the drivers. So if there is a company that pays decent, Treats you like a human. And can give you loads to make money off. Please post, And in you're Opinion which is the best company to go to. Rather In Tennesse, Or just would hire from Tennessee. Thank You.

I just wanted to state something. I understand why someone would ask another driver what company that they think is best. But to hire onto it just because someone else likes it is just plain dumb. Have you ever heard one mans poison is another mans feast.
Every company has its good points and bad but the best way is to pick one you like and want to work for. Just try not to shoot yourself in the foot. I mean look at all the angles.
Just my opinion and it is worth what it costs. Ha! Ha! I didn't have as many companys to choose from as there is now.:biggrin_25525:

When working for a company ,you but everything on a scales,on one side you put the benefits and the positives on the other side the negatives and the BS.
When the BS out weighs the good dont just jump up and quit ,start looking for another job find out as much as you can and then give your 2 wk notice and go...
I worked at BTC for 19 yrs. The scale got heavy on the BS side more than a few times ,but the positives over the long run out weighed the BS.

Gotta go whereever you can start. TN is a good place to find a trucking job. Crossroads of America.

Even at 3 months OTR there is lots more opportunities. Compaies are really starting to hire.

Some have less stringent standards on experience right now as demand is rising.

I was a driver with experience, as I did my time with some horrible companies such as Dick Simon, CRST, and then I decided to take my chances and run for Swift Trans. Being a previous driver with experience already, I dreaded the fact that they still treated me like a student when I already knew how to drive.
But I wanted to do something different, since I had drove dry van and then refrig with Simon. I wanted to try flatbed division. I did this with Swift. Of course I had to take a 1 week flatbed class in which I was the only student in the class..LOL I already knew how to tarp, chain and strap down loads but I whipped through the class in only 3 days and then released. I still had to go out with a trainer for a month, which is cool..I had no problem with that. Soon I was released and given my own truck. That's when the screw job began...my home terminal was based out of Fontana, Ca. but the main base was Phoenix. I wanted to get out there and run hard and make money...instead..they had me running only from Fontana to Phoenix and then back and forth...that's all I ever did. Which to some drivers they would think thats so bad...ok..but here's the problem...I grab a load, take it to Phoenix, I have to sit under it for 4 to 5 days before it's to be delivered, I can't just drop the trailer and let a day cab take it...no..I have to stay under it. Then once I drop the load off, then I have to wait another 3 days to get another load. Then once I got the load...they send me right back to Fontana, to where I have to sit on that load for another 4 to 5 days and not be able to drop it and get another load. I never got to stretch my wings and head back east or any where further than phoenix or fontana. I made horrible money, not even enough to pay my bills in which I ended up living in my truck because I lost everything else. There were several things wrong with that company, they had a nasty habit of making drivers run overtime on their logs. I guess that why I heard that DOT had to set up office at the main terminal and start checking records.
I never gave any of the office staff any crap..did my job and did a #### good job at that! but I still got treated like crap.
Then to top it all off...they offered me a lease option program to buy my truck?! you have got to be kidding!! I did more sitting in terminals then I did driving. Good thing I never went for that offer...I got to fontana and unloaded my truck and told them to find another sucker.
Dick Simon and CRST both screwed me over too, and my husband a I were team drivers with those two companies...and what a story I have to tell for both of them.
