thanks. that is why i dont care when super truckers tell me that using a GPS is lame. Not to mention, i can take a quick glance...see i've got xxx miles to go, and know to the tenth, how far i've gotta go to make the final. Now i know if i can take that 15-30 min break or not. =)

Look back through the post you quoted. What I said was I found myself getting lazy with my driving because of the presence of that lane stray gadget. If you read further, I went on to say that after it was disconnected, I was more on top of my game.
Don't read or quote me out of context. It makes you sound like a Liberal. -
now as far as the post i quoted, yes you did say "i found myself getting lazy". my fault. -
Swift?...been there...done that...NEVER again.
With Prime after a one year hiatis from the biz - leasing - best equipment on the road, management which completely respects the drivers, they do what they say, good freight flow and no "issues".
Good training program with a one on one process. IMHO....can't beat it.
Good luck in any event.orion3814 Thanks this. -

As to those "gadgets:" When I first started I didn't have a GPS, a cell phone, a lap top or even a Qualcom. Problems? Find a pay phone and either call your dispatcher, or call your destination. Breakdown? Fix it yourself, or sit on your butt beside the road until you were able to contact another driver to :
A - Help you out
B - Make a phone call for you at the next town
Now I don't know why it is that folks have such an aversion to "all these gadgets." If it makes you a safer driver, if it makes your job more simple and easier, then for heaven sakes, USE IT. You just need to be prepared to function without them, because sooner or later, you will have to. You won't be in an area that has service for your cell phone or laptop. The Qualcom system will be down, and your GPS will take a dump on you. And usually, when one happens, they will ALL quit working. They are all part of the same "Electronic Wizardry Union," you know.Injun Thanks this.
