    Here is the score folks..

I just spent about 45 minutes editing this thread due to insults and inflammatory remarks, and it was more than one person. I WILL NOT do this again! The next time, there will be infractions issued, and I may just lock the thread and throw away the key! and I do NOT care WHO started it!

    Does everyone understand?

I am not attacking you nor do I want to. Just trying to carry on a healthy debate with you.

Swift has a target on their backs. I really don't find it fair but that's how it goes when you have 16,000 trucks on the road. That big ole S on the side of that truck makes you a target and trust me, EVERYONE is paying attention.

I remember my first snowstorm I traveled thru on I-70 east of Denver. I was super young at it. I got on the radio and started talking to a guy running in front of me. He told me to basically follow his tracks and his tail lights (night time). I had to stay a good distance from him, but I didn't stay too far where I would lose his lights.

Our speed was about 40 to 45 mph. Just taking it easy really. Barrelling down the road was some small company trucks and some O/Os. They were stirring up a bunch of snow making it even more difficult to see. Then here comes a Swift truck. On the CB radio, no one said anything bad about those small company trucks and owner operators, but you better believe the Swift truck got a verbal lashing for doing the same exact thing that the others were doing.

Now, you would say, I may not be employed by this company. And you are correct at the present time, but on Tuesday, I start orientation in Lancaster.

Why would I do this? Being that I have been on the road since 2002, why would I go to Swift? I have my personal reasons why but I can say that I have talked to a bunch of happy Swift drivers. And in my day working at Werner, I never really had horror stories like others have. It is what you make of it. It is up to the DRIVER to make a company look good.

That is why I care. You better believe that when I work for a company, that company gets my 100% dedication. I also represent my company on the road and on the internet.

So I wouldn't say anything on the interwebs that I wouldn't say to my company's safety department.

KE5: welcome to the team. It would be nice if we had 10 good drivers for each 1 bad driver. That's about what it takes to cancel out the effects of a bad driver. So now we only need to find 9 more of you.

    cookie278, KE5WDP and Texas-Nana Thank this.

    KE5WDP....

you are correct about the "S" being nothing but a target. What i find most amusing, is that drivers in truck stops who see a swift driver having a hard time backing, or whatever, will grab their video camera so they can make a video to post on YouTube, rather than do the professional thing, and offer their help.

Swift is paying me to haul their freight from point A to B, as cost effective and as safe as possible.

I can understand why this thread was locked, and edited...but as i told the mod....i'm proud of my record (for a rolling 12 mo. period, no accidents and no service fails, and am a platnium driver). I am by no means a DANGER to 4-wheelers or 18wheelers around me. And until i do something so blaintantly against swift policy where i'm called into safety for a warning, i'm not going to change the way i operate my truck. without a warning, i must be operating my truck right....nor not operating my truck wrong. Do i get the occasional overspeed? sure. Right now, i've got 1 sec. of over-rev...and 1 sec. of overspeed with the load i'm under now.

I don't tailgate, but when another driver tailgates me....i'll slow down. give me 2 sec. at minimum, otherwise you're going around me. yeah, i'm in a 62mph truck. I get passed all the time by other carriers and the yahoo swift LEASE operators who want to run 68, and burn up some of their limited profits. a lease truck is still a swift truck. so why is it 'safer' for a lease truck to run 68, but not a company truck? both are owned by swift?....both are pulling swift loads?? there are T2000s, columbia, Volvo and International company trucks just like there are lease trucks.....so why is it any different? Sounds like a double standard to me. Almost like saying a lease driver is safer because their truck is painted blue, but if you're in a white company truck, you're unsafe for going 68. Its a lame argument.

A jerk O/O told me the other day going through Memphis to get out of the middle lane. He could have gone to the right lane legally and passed. I won't drive in the right lane as 4 wheelers are too busy talking on their phone and texting to realize the "yield" sign is for them and not me.

I did slide over and let the jerk by without saying anything. Me first reaction was to tell him to pound sand, and pick a lane and pass me. I saw him later in Arkansas at the truck stop. I had some wonderful fantasys of what I would love to do to his rig.............:biggrin_25525:
