Wuss!
Trucking isn't for the weak. Man, 4 weeks out & your crying like a baby. Try staying out 3-4 months at a time like I do.

Just because you don't have a home life doesn't mean he shouldn't.

He's NOT whining because he spent four weeks out, he is rightously indignant because Swift Promised a day off for each week out up to 4 days and then they screwwwed him.
What happened to him is exactly ( identical the same) what happened to me and was the last straw for me, too. -
You been driving with them how long? You aint even past yer first year, ya got dues, your low man on the pole, suck it up, do what you can to make it through. Its gunna get better. I know MANY a swifty, and they, along with every other company driver will tell you. Your first year blows. Even my instructors told me that. Pay your dues and it gets better, or, pack it in and quit because ya were not ment for it in the first place. -
The thing off it is with swift is you can take your time off,but have to clean out your truck if longer then 2 days.I do it all the time.work 6-8 weeks, clean out the truck and take the time off. There is a flexible fleet were you can work as long as you want and take off as long as you want.Im looking into it for my self.think about that for your situation.

Dont take the above as harsh as it comes off...I look at my upcoming obligation to swift diffrently:
Im a rookie. With shat credit, no experiance, and no hope.
They come, and offer to get me through school, offer me a job that STARTING, makes more than twice my annual income (yes, I lived in the teen thousands if that) where the training pay was FOUR TIMES my current weekly check.
Yeah, I supported another person my current check too FYI.
So yeah. Its gunna suck for me, long times out, short times home (If I wanna keep my truck) But they took a risk on me, they are giving me mroe than they know.
A chance. A future, some hope, and the ability to tear up THEIR truck for a year or two while I learn the ropes and save to buy my own so I dont tear up my OWN truck when I lease or buy one.
Its all a matter of perception. You choose to view it your way, thats perfectly valid.
I choose to view it mine, because it makes the crap, more tolorable.FEELTHEWHEEL Thanks this. -

As is the case with any "Swift Policy"...it changes at with a whim! If they (by verbal contract/understanding) through the advertising, in orientation, and in their academy, state that a driver is entitled to one day off for every 6 worked...(which is their policy, and has been for 20+ years...then they OWE it to their drivers to follow their policy and standards!
However...we all know that this is the time of year that a driver needs to rack up as many miles and dollars as is possible...the slow time is coming, sooner than we want. but to each his/her own to take EARNED TIME OFF when we want...not when the company wants! -
You people crack me up! Please remember... You choose to go into a training program to learn how to drive a truck. You are the one's who decided that you wanted to become truck driver's. You are the one's who said "I'd like to go to drive for SWIFT".
And then when #### don't go the way that the truck driving school told you that they will go.... You quickly point fingers at others & refuse to accept the fact that you wanted to do this. It ain't their fault your driving a truck. You want to be home... I heard that McDonald's is hiring!JustSonny Thanks this.
