Yep........they took you on, didn't they?

Sorry your experience wasn't what you wanted. It rarely is for first year drivers in any company. The biggest shock is usually when the visions they had of "freedom of the open road" give way to the reality that this is one of the most tightly managed industries in the nation.

I believe you will find hypermanagement at most companies. But, good luck in your future endeavors.

Why do you stay injun? Did you learn the tricks or is there a system that needs to be learned?

I stay because I have predictable miles, good pay, predictable and frequent home time, a good rapport with office staff, decent equipment and Swift has a flavor of BS that is tolerable to me.

It's not perfect. Nothing in life ever is. But after trying with a tiny company (great people...it was like a little family) and with a large percentage based company, I came back to Swift. However, I came back with exceptions, provisos and conditions. They wanted me back bad enough to meet my demands and they have not gone back on their word.

Best thing of all...Swift's checks don't bounce.

BTW: interesting choice for a user name. It's what we used to call the lead guy on union carpentry work sites.

Hey drivers, just dropped in on thet last couple of post. I been with Mr.Swift for six months (as of today actually). I have my ups and downs with this company, but just like someone said before; it's life! I was thinking of leaving and exploring my options with my exp. However, I think I might as well stay another six because it seems like a year opens more doors. I don't really like the equipment I get with swift. I had a brand new KW T660 15miles, due to needed home time I lost my baby.

Actually I find it to be the contrary. Objectives are tightly managed. But, beyond that a driver is pretty much left to thier own devices to achieve the objective. The sad reality is too many people need someone to babysit them and they really don't get that in this industry.

Your correct I been with them 2 weeks left two mentors trucks because my pre-trip showed problems.
The mentors told me if I recorded the problems the truck shuts down and Swift can take there time fixing the truck wile you sit broke at there terminal so not to take the side of the drivers who do over look safty problems but after resighning got to admit #### if ya do and #### if ya dont either way the drivers paying the price.
Persinaly Im not willing to do either so I jumped off my second truck rather than end up a scape goat.
Swift has 30 more drivers waiting to fill my seat and has no problem telling you just that.
