That's awesome. I don't haul open deck and I don't live anywhere near Dubuque. Nor do I plan on doing either. Ever.

Re: Think Swift is worth a second look or even one?
Turbotrucker doesn't know squat about swift.
All he can do is bring up stories from people who "CLAIM" to have been done wrong by Swift in the past. When confronted by a current Swift driver who is making good money and getting home often, he runs off and joins another message board because he cannot disput my claims about swift.
Swift is a good company for GOOD drivers. If you are not a good driver you will not make money. No one is gonna hold your hand.
I restate my belief that Tony (turbotrucker) must have been rejected by swift. That is the only way I can account for his hatred towards them.
Baaaaahaaaaahaaaaa I works for this dirt bag co for a year and six months give me some of what you are smoking it's a terrible co that does not give one iota $@&$ about it's drivers period qote me on that and have watch them turn out more crappy drivers than u could shake a gear shifter at I have a tone of story's both from personal experience and frome people I know who have and are worked there all they care about is a butt in the seat if it's not yours it will be someone elses I can't believe these comments are from a swift lifer they must be from office personell -
My husband has been with Swift for one year. Of course he has complaints however he has only good things to say about his driver manager and his trainer. Sometimes he has more miles than he can handle sometimes not as many as he wants. He is currently considering going to another company in the hopes of more home time and naturally more money but the only thing he seems to want changed at Swift is the mechanics who need some incentive to hustle a little and do a better job.
Trucker Lady 76 and Sam Hell Thank this. -
I work there now... I am more than willing to run run run and then run some more.. I leased a truck and after the last 90 days with them and in my truck ( i leased it 9/30/11) i've been in the shop more than on the road.. I've been in the hole more than i've made a paycheck... I can tell you that when a man wants to run and says i don't need to be home all the time stretch my legs out all i get is pretty much the same 4 states and they call that otr driving... I want to run, i want a truck that runs more than its in the shop.. With that being said swift said that they refuse to stand behind there warranty and have done all that they are willing to do but yet my truck is still having problems.. Not sure why they are called mechanics when all they are, are glorified oil changers and tire thumpers... I have friends that do well with this company but most of us are starving and looking to go elsewhere... I just wonder in this time of our economy are all companies doing this bad or just swift???? I can tell you as an o/o all i was given last week was 1202 miles... Pretty sad and when you bring it up all you get is its bad everywhere or we are 1500 loads light for the number of drivers that we have but yet i see our trailers going up and down the road under different carriers, can't take care of our own but sure can phatten the pockets of other companies

I take it he leased a used truck without asking for the maintenance records on it.
Great business move there. You might as well have bought on the open market from some shyster used car salesman. Well done.
I'd be interested to know what model of truck, how many miles on it, whether it was a company-to-lease like the old Columbias or if it was a straight IEL only lease truck and what the problems are with it.nckid Thanks this. -
They're all interested in becoming an O/O under the mistaken belief that if you are an O/O miles will magically appear.
I try to explain to them that miles don't fall from the sky, you have to work at it. If you are not getting the miles as a company driver, you're not going to get them as an O/O.
Becoming an O/O expecting that more miles/money will magically appear, is like having a child to to fix your relationship. It's only going to make it worse, much worse.Jackofalltrades1977, Injun and Trucker Lady 76 Thank this. -
now thats said the only thing i will say that really upset me was they gave me a service failure for getting to shipper too soon but other than that its been great im with a dedicated account home every weekend more pay great dm ive got off track swift does have kw900s as well as pro star Volvo and freight liner as company trucks -
I am glad to hear that I am "ignorant," now I don't have to wonder. I am not a rocket scientist, however I am an Aerospace Mechanic. I also have a BA in Secondary Education. I was invited to join Mensa, but didn't see the purpose in paying an organization to tell me how high my IQ is. But the name on my truck obviously dictates that you are far brighter than I.
Forgive me Mr. Turbo Trucker for being an insult to your profession, but I enjoy my job. Swift has not yet changed my decision. -
Hmmm....I've only been with the company for 6 months now, my first month solo I only average around 2,000miles a week, but now I'm regularly hitting 3,000 a week, sometimes I push my PTA out further then it needs to be just so I can have a breather, I'm no awesome truck driver, I think it more comes down to my people skills, I get a lil wacky on the Qualcomm when I send msgs, like the goal!! MSG I may type after that this reminds me of soccer, and I don't wanna be reminded of soccer, cause its a game for floppers, and no one likes a flopper, someone who cries about phantom calls, means they are a pansy, and we are a big trucking company and we don't wanna be called pansies do we?, they just get wacky but in a good way
