According to the owner of that GTO and her boyfriend (who was driving it), it was the truck driver who was at fault. Saying he didn't use his blinker, DIDN'T have a CDL, and admitted to the cop that he was at fault too. I'll find the link to that thread.

    Edit: Nevermind:

I am not sticking up for swifty but all 4 wheelers will lie to get the trucker in trouble.

If he admitted fault then he is not verry smart you never admit fault to anyone I am sure it is their company policy to keep mouth shut except to company personel.
Needless to say I bet he does not work for swift or any other company right now.

He did not have a cdl then how was he driving the truck with out one unless he was with a trainer.

4wheelers fault, plain and simple. see it every day - they think "oh, now i can get around the big truck, i'm gonna go for it!" and this is what happens.

If you think it is the 4 wheelers fault I hope you don't currently drive a CMV?

If you can't make a normal turn from the turn lane provided then you have 3 options. 1. to button hook the turn while maintaining lane control 2. executing the turn while blocking access to your blindside and clearing traffic to your left. 3. approaching the turn from the other direction.

This was clearly the fault of the Swift driver and a quite common mistake made by a ill trained or inattentive driver.

The law is clear. When you are maneuvering a CMV in a turn and cannot maintain lane control it is the cmv operators responsibility to not proceed unless traffic is cleared and it is safe to do so. period Don't like it? then don't drive for a living

4wheeler will do lots of things to put your cdl in jeopardy but as a professional driver under the law you are held to a higher standard and must be able to recognize possible scenarios ahead of time avoid them which in this case required not allowing access for a car to get on your blind side prior to or during the execution of the turn.:yes2557:

That is what I was trying to tell him. And the spot mirrors had saved me a good many time too. I still say the fault always lands in the professional drivers lap. Road Dog ,Your so right thanks.:biggrin_25525:

In the immortal words of Caryl Chessman (The Red Light Bandit) in CA
many years ago (Google it) just before they gassed him:
"They have never executed a man who did not confess".

Also a slogan good to consider with friends:
"You lie about it and I'll swear to it".

These are to make the point.

Never discuss the happenings with anyone except your lawyer in the privacy of his office or the company officials who are as liable as you...
    Misery and fault loves company.

Do yourself two very big favors when it comes to Swift. 1st seriously reconsider what you are doing with Swift because if you work for Swift they can and will try to find ways in which to screw you over.

They will not communicate with you no matter how much you beg and plead with them and in my opinion they will also try to find ways in which to screw you out of your pay.

I have worked for them and in my opinion they are one of the worst companies to work for and that is why I suggest that you seriously reconsider working for them. If you have a choice I would suggest that you cancel and go work for a different trucking company because you will not get the proper training from them to make you a safe and knowledgeable driver that most companies are looking for.

2nd, if you do decide to work for them despite all of the warnings, then at least do yourself a big favor and take as many precautions as you can to protect both you, your reputation, your career, and the general public from them because if you do not, then you, your reputatation, and your career will suffer big time because Swift does not know what they are doing and those that do know what they are doing over there don't give a darn about you or anyone else. They are thinking only of themselves and they can and they will try to find ways in which to screw you over if they can.

If you decide to work for them, then bring yourself plenty of KY jelly because they will screw you and you will not get the benefit of a reach around with them. You are at your own risk when it comes to Swift and you can take that from someone who has been there and who has dealt with all of their BS that they seem to like to dole out on a regular basis.

They talk about being better than any other company and that they won't dink you around, but once you get in the door then that all changes big time. Whatever they are telling you right now to get you to believe that they are good and that they will not hurt you is a lie and I know that from personal experience because they told me the same things before I went to work for them and they made me think that they were ok and that things would be better for me if I worked for them.

They promised me more pay, more home time, and due to previous experience as a trainer with other companies they promised me that I could be a trainer with them, but they never kept their word on any of it and instead they gave me the short end of the stick like they tend to do with a lot of other people and that is why I am saying that if you do go to their school and you do work for them, then you are doing so at your own peril. Working for them is kind of like swimming with man eating sharks. Sure at first you may not think that anything is wrong, but once you get in the water with them, then they can and will turn on you without notice and they will do everything that they can to make your life a living hell.

Whatever you decide to do, just be very careful because most trucking companies are like military recruiters. They will tell you anything that you want to hear just to get you in the door and then once you are in the door everything can and will change without notice. I know because I have been there and I have had it happen to me and that along with the fact that the life of an over the road trucker is both very hard and very lonely and more often than not you will not be respected by anyone because most people tend to take for granted everything that they have and they don't seem to realize that without trucks America stops as most everything is brought in on trucks.

I personally have had my fill of over the road truck driving and I hope to God that I never have to go back to that kind of lifestyle again because somehow while I was out on the road trying to make a living as an over the road truck driver I lost a part of myself that I am only now starting to recover, but unfortunately the road to recovery is a long and slow road and I guess that it will probably take me a while to fully recover and to discover all of those things that I have missed out on over the years while I was out on the road.

I don't want to talk you out of driving truck at all. All that I am saying is that you should take your time and really evaluate both what you want out of life and as to what all of the other trucking companies and schools have to offer and if you still believe at that time that going to school with Swift and working for Swift is right for you, then by all means go for it, but do it with caution and make sure that you fully understand all of the caveats that go with it because if you do not, then it can and it will come back to bite you in the butt if you are not extremely careful.

Well they can only screw you on pay if you don't make copies of your receipts, bills. Only once was I not payed on anything in 4 years and i resubmitted the copy and got paid.
There are some requirements to be a trainer, like no service failures last 3 months, or violations. Those things are easy to avoid for 3 months somewhere, so I'm guessing you just were not that good at OTR.
Drivers that do their job, and deliver on time do good, and can be trainers or get good dedicated runs. Albuquerque probably had some nice dedicated runs.

This site is used to warn other drivers about different companies and what problems they ran into with that company, if you work for this company and they have been good to you that's good for you. If this company screws you then you will be out here telling people your story.

Since you don't know this driver personally then you have no idea about the type of driver that this driver is. To be a trainer takes a special type of driver in most cases (the ones that become trainers after only six months out is not good enough experience to teach someone else the ropes). Since the driver was told that this company would make this driver a trainer and they (the company) did not uphold their end then I can see why this driver is not happy with this company.

I feel that it is better to be warned then not warned at all.

If a person decides to drive for any company that has a bad reputation and the person still decides to drive for that company they will remember all the things that they read on this site and find out most of the writings were right but on the other hand if things do work out for that person then they will come back here and say that the company is a good company. This is a 50-50 thing.

But please don't say this driver didn't do their job if you didn't team with the driver making his/her statement.

Swift does not have a good rep, true. Seen to many come on here and complain. But your only getting one side of the story. You can do much worst than Swift.

Of the Large Companies who the Worst? All
Of the Large Companies who is good? All

All pending on you in the long run.....
