Of the list above? Swift! Refer would suck having to sit at packing houses, then delivering to grocery DC's? Way more abuse than I can tolerate.
I spent most of my time East of the Mississippi. Home terminal was Memphis. I had opted for the 904(?) "comfort zone." That was to keep me out of the NE. Bottom 3/4's of NJ, all of PA, West to the Eastern half of Colorado, up to the Canadian border, all of Texas. I went to upstate NY several times, CA not often enough. I was on the 48 for a while. They wouldn't run me out West. So I went back on the 904 or 903. Whichever it was. I never saw CT, MA, ME, VT, or NH. 15 months at Swift. If they still have the comfort zones, sometimes they will lie and tell you there is no such thing. After reading about Roehl's goofy routing and them b itching about out of route miles I was glad I didn't go there.
Deciding between swift , prime & Roehl. Agree swift lowest start pay. Looking at whole picture. Equipment, available loads, drop & hook, bennies, co organization etc. since you've been on the road & talked w other drivers would you select another carrier to start with? Would you still recommend swift? I've been pleased w my recruiter. Have asked many details ' he has provided. Others have been reluctant to put them in writing or state, you'll get that at orientation. How does that help me make a decision now? Safe travel.
I'm not OTR anymore. It was a means to an end. Company disorganization! The planners are over worked, weekend crew can't make a decision...... Typical mega carrier. No bonuses whenI was there. $35 for any hazmat load. Crete (if they accept your school) might be a better paying gig. Where is the OP on this thread? I leftSwift 5/10/11
There is too much time between pickup and delivery. THAT is the reason to decline the load. Macro 9, no... on comments write "too much time"
Hope to be attending the Swift school in Tenn, soon. Living in NC, I was wondering how the freight looks on the East Coast. All things considered once I become solo, I know hometime will not always be available but having the ability to at least swing by home would be great. Also, does Swift have take-home policy with trucks once I go solo?
From what I understand, freight is almost always decent in the NE/E and Swift will let you take the truck home as long as they deem the area safe. BTW, you can go home anytime you are ready; however, it solely depends on how the freight is moving.
exactly, i actually don't deny I just message my DL and ask her to check the time frame for delivery. I also do the same thing if the miles are to low. and so far i have been taken care of.
