Rug, I have 22 years, and now at Swift, and it is because it works for me. Just becasue a company is a training company, does not mean that an exp driver can make it work for them. For me, I have to admit, I am being treated here better than I have at some smaller companies, and a DM that does not lie to me, actually talks to me.

They #### sure ought to talk to you as you are leasing one of their trucks. Many times I couldn't get my DM on the phone. Tried to get things set for the weekend etc. I sat way too much for various reasons. Mostly no empty trailers. I burned a lot of time chasing trailers that didn't exist. I sat for over 24hrs never got a trailer. I was allowed to bobtail. Shipper didn't care either! I got a 34hr reset in St.Rose LA because of no trailer. Don't get me started.

I find it amazing with all the computer BS they have, and can't find you an empty trailer in Dallas, Chicago, etc. What really funny or sad is a friend rents a secure place to keep his truck in Florida when off duty. There is 3-5 Swift trailers in there. He has taken pics of the tractors, and the trailer numbers. Opened the trailers take pics of the cargo. The pics have been sent to Ocala, and supposedly Decatur. Basically they are stolen and being used by another carrier. It has been over a month. Nothing has happened. Too many lazy don't give a poot bums that won't do their job.

Thanks for the time and effort put into this thread! I have Swift and H.O Wolding on the top of my list of where I think I might start my driving career. Finishing up schooling in Appleton,WI this week and am excited to start. From what I have read it is true as a rook I'll have to pull up my boot straps and work my tail off, but the right attitude and willingness to be a professional and learn all I can from those of you that have that knowledge and experiences to share. Will be what makes or breaks any noobie. Thanks all; keep the dirty side down and be safe!

We will treat you like two year old that can't make an intelligent decision.

We will ignore your messages for fuel that is on your route and not 60mi. out of your way.

We will screw you up to 67% on your mileage pay.

Swift is a great company to work for, but only if you can talk to your DM without getting an attitude. Talk calmly, get to places on time and without needing excuses for being late, and be humble.

    Enough said...

If you can get your DM on the phone! I gave mine an attitude twice in 15 months. Once was over them not wanting to get me home for Christmas after promising to do that. I just stood my ground and she caved.

You don't get squat for being on time. I stupid message from the C.O.O. once a month. "Don't think this goes unnoticed!":biggrin_2559:It just warms the ####les of your heart.

I actually got a thanks for hauling the first load of furniture for a new account from a CSR.

Hmm never had a problem with getting ahold of my DM. But then again if I am calling in there is a problem. Mostly they call me to see if I can help and if I can I will. Normally I would give someone the benefit of doubt, but the more you act like a child the more you will be treated as so. Also there hasn't been a month I haven't received that message from the C.O.O. does it bother me he didn't call direct not really. If you need a pat on the back for every delivery, you might be in the wrong business. Van drivers are a dime a dozen, and it shows more often than not.
