No..they treat you like your driving their truck and until you get experience you need to be told what to do.
No..I have NEVER had an issue requesting a re-optimization for fuel. I do it at least once per week
No...they pay you exactly what they say they will pay you. HHG and Practical miles always are less than actual traveled.

Just so all of you that haven't run into Rug Trucker before know, he is a FORMER Swift driver that will only tell what was bad about his experience with Swift. He will take any opportunity to bash the company to anyone. I don't recall him ever having a good word to say about Swift. Most of us just ignore him and let him rant. I will say this, he did have some good points about owner ops in another thread in this section, but he admits that the points he brought up were from a friend of his that does his taxes and is a driver as well.

That's not enforced anymore. Hardly anyone did it anyway. I didn't and have never allowed my students to do it. It's more of an accident inducer than an accident preventor.

A lease/op outta Washington on a Walmart dedicated recently was threatened to have her contract revoked because of not doing the goal message. It is one of those policy's like No cell phones calls (go into a termanl lounge and count how many head sets you see) that is only enforced when it hits the fan.

So, after reading your blog I have two questions:

    1) How long of a time frame should a new driver be looking at to be under the new solo driver manager (i.e. months, miles, loads)?

    2) In actual reality, how many miles did you average per week?

I just finished reading you post on swift, and I really liked how you touched base on so much. I'm a rookie fresh out of school and I'm headed to Pa. in March for orientation. A lot of what you have written is need to know information. I will certainly take your advise on a lot of issues and suggestions you have brought up. Have you ever been to the PA terminal?

Deciding between Roehl, Central Ref, Swift & prime. Accepted to all. Have all cpm, bennie costs, training pay & length.
Question is after getting solo which can be most beneficial in terms mpw, consistency & treatment of drivers.
Many threads state gd pay or bad pay but don't back up w numbers. Treating this as a career move for at least the next 5 yrs. have my permit.
    Thx for any replies.
    Looking to start about 4-15.
