yup, but I think I let my nerves get the best of me. I must admit, that I did not get a whole lot of time out on the road with my school. Too many students... I even looked into renting a tractor to get some more time on my own, but they will only rent out to drivers that own or work for a company. Any ideas how to get more time would be greatly appreciated.

    Howling Mad Murdock Thanks this.

I was asking who ever knew.

Thanks mpddadld. For your question there are companys that you can rent a tracter but it is very pricey, like 375 for a day.

    Day 5

Daylight saveings is not cool when your not used to being up during the day (I used to work night shift). I did not know if my phone would change the time by itself or not, haven't had it very long. So i set my alarm an hour early to be safe. The alarm went off at 4:15 and having changed the time I woke up at 4:15. So I say to myself I will change the time and get another hour of sleep, bad idea. I woke up at 6:20, 5 min before the bus gets here. I made it on time barely.

We lost no one today. We started with 15 and ended with 15!

We started with a video on Hazmat today and then took a test on it. We watched the coupling and uncoupling video agian as well as the pre-trip inspection film. After that we took a practice Permit Test or three. Once everyone was done with that we rewatched the General Knowlage film. After lunch we watched a saftey film, cops theam song vocals we about falling and hurting yourself. We then preaceded out to the range for a walk around of a tracter and trailer. The instructer showed us the 7 point break test. After going back in we took an air break test. Lastly we did all our DPS paperwork. 2 people have CDL's so they sat in the back and watched 4 people are from out of state so they had much more paperwork, the rest of us are Texans so we finished fast.

Tomorrow is the real deal.We will arrive 20 or 30 min before DPS opens to insure that we will be first or close to the first.

Good luck! Isn't listening to Lou on those films GREAT? I think that was the worst part for me... I like how he makes his whole entrance, lol. Drives his truck up and stops and starts talking (while not wearing his seat belt, I might add) then fires off the parking brake. :biggrin_255: So dramatic.

    Day 6

We went to DPS yesterday, everything went fine at first. I took my first test, Texas Permit and made 100% on it. Half way through General Knowlage they cancelled my test. Apparently the State of Virginia put a hold on my licence. I owe money to them that I never got informed of. So I was sent home, I was told that after I take care of it I will be allowed back to school. The school was very suprised, as I was. They told me I quote "What are they talking about? I checked you, your squicky clean." I had to pay my way home and will have to pay my way back. I will go back on a Sunday and then test at DPS with the class that is going to DPS that Monday to take their tests. It wasn't a very good day, I had a way to have it taken care of that day but was told that they had no choice but to send me home. So it will take a little longer but I will get back and finish. If anyone wants to buy something from me so I can pay it off faster that would be great.

Sorry to hear that HMM. Hope it worls fpr you. What is the hangup?

My recruiter told me that if you leave or get terminated before 3 days you don't pay anything, if after that you pay on a sliding scale-is that how you understand it?

Darkschneidr: What school did you go to with Swift?

Thanks, I just have to pay the state of Virginia Money I dont have. Your recruiter told you right if you leave or are terminated before 5PM on Friday, you wont owe a dime. Depending on why you may even get your 150 back, and a bus ticket provided to you. After Friday it is on a sliding scale up to your 11th day. After thhe 11th day if you leave you will owe the whole thing.
