Just got off the phone with a rep from Roadmaster. He thinks because I'm on two medications that need a note from my doctor, and even if that's ok with the doctor and DOT, a company still might not hire me. He sent me two apps, one for Covenant, and on for Swift, saying he knows those two to be more lenient about medications their drivers are on.

Is that really true, or is this the BS of a rep who likely gets commissions based on how many bodies he brings in or, even to a specific company?

It seems ridiculous to me. Two medications I've been on for years, driving my own car on them for hours at a time with no problems... I can see why there's restrictions, but if evidence shows no reason for it to be a problem, why make an issue of it?

Anyway, assuming the rep isn't full of BS, I'd like to know which of the two I should go with... or if there's some other alternatives.

Very few, and I mean very few, will take a new driver that takes medication that needs a Dr. waiver. They may be legal by DOT standards, but virtually no bigger company will open themselves up to a lawsuit in case you have an accident.

Knowing the type of medication would help considerably.

Do not tell us what meds.

Too much information could lead to an accurate answer.

Bugger, that sucks. =/ I suppose having a completely clear driving history and drug screen wouldn't help much then?

It's Trazedone and Buspar. I think the first one is on the 24-hour no-driving list, and the other... I don't know. Might be the same? I've taken them for years without any side effects or problems... in fact, the reason I take the Trazedone is because it doesn't give me any drowsiness when I wake up.

call and talk directly to the recruiters for their company. talking to an independant recruiter is 100% a complete waste of time. no one on this board can give you a definitive answer like the real recruiters can.

Alright... well, I know various recruiters come in and talk with the students at Roadmaster, so I'll get a chance then.

The recruiters probably won't know, as their job is to get warm bodies to orientation. You will probably need to speak to someone at the main office that handles the medical qualifications.

I am afraid you are going to have a very hard time getting approved with any company that knows about these two medications. I could be wrong, but I have seen DQs for this type of meds, and for lesser drugs.
