Hey everyone! I am looking for a new job after being fired from UPS after nearly 10 years. I have applied at multiple companies and so far the only ones I have received a positive response from are Swift and CR England. A little of my background - I have a Class A CDL with Duals/Triples endorsement. I finished CDL school back in Feb 2001 and worked OTR for Swift for about a year before quitting and eventually going to UPS. AT UPS I have primarily done Delivery but have also been a cover/on-call driver for their Feeder Dept which does local transfers (within a 5 hour drive time radius of the main hub driving single and dual trailers) since August 2010. Most companies are advising that I don't have enough experience which I can understand since it has been over 10 years since I worked for Swift as an OTR driver. Swift submitted re-hire papers and advised that it will take about 24 hours to go over their paperwork etc. CR England wanted me on a bus to Salt Lake City last night for orientation (they advised I could also go to one at the end of the month - I didn't want to just jump at the job). Anyone have any current experience/opinions of these two companies or can you recommend a company that would be wiling to look at me with the type of experience I have? Thanks in advance...
Swift vs. CR England is either one better?

uhh ...not quite sure but being fired never does ya any favors ... not sure i would wanna be at swift ... i been there and hated it cuz i never got miles consistently ..it was feast one weeks famine the next week ... either way ur gonna eat a hell of a pay cut u ready for that just to keep trucking ? hmm... not sure but this the only 2 companies that would hire you ? i dunno i am not fan of either one but CR wants u on a lease and fleece so least swift would be better in that respect ... u talk to schneider ? u may want too ...
-
Since you've been with Swift & you can drive, then go with Swift! CR England wants everyone on their lease program, at least with Swift you'll get a better rate. And yeah, getting fired is never gonna help your situation any!
-
well i can say if u do call schneider the tankers start at 40 cents a mile and u wont come close to that anywhere else i promise but u gotta have the haz mat and tanker and go to their orientation for ten days ... but if u wanna know more send me a pm .. no i am not recruiting at all just offering up maybe a better situation possibly ..

Thanks, don't think I can PM yet, not enough posts. Being fired is going to hurt my prospects but I was advised we "parted on good terms". I am still waiting for the appeal with the Union but can't sit around waiting for it with no income. -
oh u poor soul lol ... why i am not fan of unions just take ur money and screw ya in the end anyhow ... either way try and see what happens just be honest u might be surprised

The union can 99% of the time, prevent you from being fired......unless you really f-up.
Why bash a union when you have no idea why this person was fired? -
It's been established, the unions have been taken over by the Communists, and they all suck.
The communists always sneak in under the guise of "helping the blue collar man". That's China's moto!
Sounds great, looks great on paper... evil and corrupt in reality -
Yeah, and those evil unions make many UPS drivers $100K/year...

Here we go again.....
