I applied to swift online in the summer of 2019. Got a call back the next day from a recruiter, gave me the rundown. They would pay for my schooling, and I’d pay them back out of each paycheck for a year. Drove for them OTR for about half a year, usually grossing about a grand a week. Then I got on a dedicated account, the work was super easy and I was making 1300-1600 a week. Sometimes I’d hit 1750 in a paycheck. Also, when I started with Swift I was assigned a brand new 2020 cascadia which honestly was awesome. No idea why I got that but it was DOPE. Overall my experience at swift was pretty good. I think they’re a good starter company. A lot of guys who complain about Swift, aren’t really cut out for trucking in general anyways. Swift is better than a lot of people give them credit for.

Wish I could say I had the same experience with US Xpress.

Which is fair enough.
And I will add one more thing that you did not mention.
Unless it has changed, during the second year Swift pays you back at the same rate - thus making the training free if you stay for 2 years.PNwMtFlwr Thanks this. -
I didn't get my CDL through Swift. It was an independent school.
But, I have been here nearly 10 years because they have always treated me fairly and honestly.bryan21384 Thanks this. -
Before recently going with a local community college, I called Swift and inquired about their school and was told I’d be required to sign a 24 month contract.
I originally started with FFE/KLLM but had a family emergency that required me to leave early, but I’d highly recommend them. They’re the only company that I’ve talked to that had their own academy with their own dorm/hotel, and also offered three free meals a day.
They’re also one of the few companies that I talked to that train on manual transmissions, pay for your DOT physical, pay for your permit, then pay for your license once you pass. Not to mention they don’t make you pay for it weekly out of your paycheck like everyone else and forgive the debt after one year or on a sliding scale depending on how long you stay. -
Roehl pay in cdl school is now $616.00 weekly.
