When USExpress took over the Wal-Mart dedicated account in Henderson, NC from SNI they upped the stop pay to $17.50. $10 sounds low.

Heavy Haul company OTR, out of town all the time. I looked for a local door job but no one was hiring much at the time so went back out pulling a RGN.

I was not trying to be mean on my post at all and after reading it I felt it sounded like that, I know some places are just tough to get a good local driving job and to have good equipment.

I worked a Wal Mart dedicated gig for SNI and when it was turned over to USX my girlfriend got a job as a dispatcher. Be aware that WalMart is a 90% night operation. Some stuff during the day but almost all is 1700-0600 stuff which means you leave the DC at 1700 not arrive at your first stop then. Also, you have multiple stops and when you get back you are put on a second load to fill your clock up. You are home almost every day. Sometimes things happen as in every job and you get stuck at a store or somewhere for your 10hr but mostly back every day. Your hours will also fluctuate. You might be put on a load leaving 1700 one day then 2300 the next then not get a load if the freight is light and leave at 0400 the day after. All this being said, if you can vary your sleep clock and don't mind working nights the job itself is not bad and I made decent money at it. I quit because I couldn't take the constant nights as I'm a day person. If I could have put up with the night driving I probably would not have left as it was a 5 on and 2 days off operation and I had no other real problem with it.the part about running intrastate Florida laws is something I've never heard from any large company and I would be doubtful if they were doing that. Not saying its not true but doubtful. Also the 7 day a week part. Who would take a job where you work 7 days a week?

@aiwiron: O/O? It's my firm belief that everyone needs some time out of the truck on a regular basis to avoid getting burned out. I worked a few years 7 days a week but my clock reset was always in a place where I could get out of the truck and see a ballgame, nascar race etc. I meant everyday in the truck on a dedicated account where you went home then back to work every 10 hrs. For 99% of the drivers I doubt thats a good idea. If it works for you then great!

Call a terminal and ask if they are using Florida law...You should also clarify the 5 on 2 off thing.. as Wal mart is a 7 day a week 365 day operation.... All dc's close Christmas but open back up to start shipping at midnight. As for everything else you said you are 100% right.. Anyone that wants to get up at 8 am and go directly to work better find another place... I go in at 1830 today and won't get done until probably 7 to 8 am.

5 on/2 off is exactly that. You work 5 days then have 48hrs off. These are not the weekends, however, as that is the busy time. My days off were tues/weds. USX started the account with 34hr reset off then talked about going to a 5/2 and its now up in the air. The 2 days off varied driver to driver during m-f. You were given the option of 6/1 with 34 reset or 5/2 with 48 off depending on the need of the company. I think they haven't decided yet as they are still new at this account in this location and are trying to work out the bugs.

I agree everyone needs time out of the truck and for clarification my response was incomplete and my fault, I do get time out of the truck but unless I am home and completely away from it I consider it working, but the good part is when I do get home it is out of the truck at a week at a time or long enough to recharge my batteries so to speak.

Depends on the person really and do understand where you are coming from, everyone does what they can and what fits a individuals needs is most important.
