I have a lenngthy respose that I will submit later on. The short version is you actually have some advantages and will be more likely to be allowed to take it home than someone living in the Phoenix Metro area.

Still waiting on that lengthy response... :biggrin_25522:

I will be about 150 miles from terminal and live on a major hwy. I was wondering same thing; What is Swift's policy on taking truck home during home time?

My wife and I only have one vehicle and driving to the terminal is not cost effective, greyhound does not run here (Nearest pick up point is 45 miles away).

If there is a customer in the area where a trailer can be dropped and a DM who is willing to allow it, you should have no problem taking your truck home. Being near a major highway and not near a terminal both work to your favor. If you are a runner, average 2,500 miles/week, are safe and punctual, you will be more likely to have office staff willing to work with you.

I always took my company truck to the house. This was almost five years ago.

I have my truck and mt trailer at the house right now. I live about 100 miles from Lancaster. It has never been a problem for me to come home with the rig. As a matter of fact, I have even been given empties from Lancaster without a preplan for hometime due to my proximity to customers that make us have empties to get a load. Work hard when you work, smile a lot around the office staff and you can get lots of favors.

I'm out of phx and its a constant battle and argument about the truck. I run hard i don't turn down anything i can legally/safely complete. I have managed to keep my truck for over a year but the only time i take any Home time is when i can drop it in the shop. Im home for x-mas and the trucks in the shop. Ac is out/power steering box is leaking etc. When it gets fixed ill jump right back in it and get down the road. I live roughly 50 miles from the terminal and i have taken it home two times in the past year and I Catch #### about it from the dm's and they have forgotten about it by the next day.that is the only advantage to the pod fleet.
