In regards to Swift's East-West .cpm difference, I reviewed posts on TTF, but am confused about which pay scale is used when. If I pick up in a East zone state, but finish in a West zone state, which pay scale is used? Turning that around, If I start a run in a West zone state, but finish in a East zone state, which pay scale is used? From the posts I've reviewed it seems that with any cross zone runs Swift is going to pay the lower West zone pay rate. Comments?

That is correct. To get East Pay the load must Originate and Deliver in the East. Anything else is West pay.

Well, that may affect my decision whether to want to do National (all Swift's comfort zones) or try to stay in the East comfort zones only, unless those East-West trips are loooooong runs with less sitting. Why again is the pay scale less in the West zone?

Personally at this moment my atlas goes as far as Ohio....this east coast I have heard reference to is another country obviouslyBuckeye 'bedder and scottied67 Thank this. -
Not sure, but I think the higher east pay is due to the fact a lot of drivers will not run the east, so it's an incentive. That's always been my guess, anyway.

1nonly is correct in that many drivers won't run the east and Nik is correct in his reason of short runs and congested traffic. (Although I didn't find NYC area or Chicago as frustrating as I do L.A.) Also, there's more freight going west to east than east to west so it's easier to get a driver from the west to the east and harder to get runs back to the west. Did I type the words "east and west" enough to get you confused? lol

east and west and west and east and east and then west and then east and some more east and a little west and some more west then east to west to west and then east and east and east and west or west and west and west and east....
There! If Nana didn't confuse ya, I did!scottied67, Texas-Nana and Fewe Thank this. -

Also, many roads in the Eastern half are narrower than the Western side. IE: more precise driving (supposedly).

Try being lost in Boston and wondering how to get turned around multiple times on their really narrow streets....all I can say is they have some of the most patient motorists in this country....53 feet of off tracking trailer and a newbie....wow...and I survived without taking anything down....not sure an extra penny was worth the troubles I had that day....heck...I was ready to pay someone to get me out of there....LOL
