Well, I'm no office worker. I left that world behind a couple of years ago. Sitting in a cubicle, being micro-managed beyond belief, was no longer satisfiying. Go figure!

There's no smoke screen in front of me. I'm not so much defending Swift as I am stating how I deal with their policies. True, I haven't been out for even three months yet. The fact remains that I am working in the hottest months of the year. Yet somehow I have consistently been able to sleep through the night and feel rested in the morning.

If I can do it, why can't the others? I'd go ahead and rattle off some ideas, but something tells me they wouldn't go over so well.

Go ahead, rattle, Yuma AZ, 113 daytime temp, go ahead, lay down and sleep Mr Swift tough guy!!! AC on high, inside temp of Peterbilt 83. What a load of baloney. Besides Aux units only burn 5 gal in 24 hrs andpay for themselves the 1st day it's hot in VA let alone AZ or Houston. You cannot tell me you are rested after trying to sleep in any southern state after driving all day .

I can tell you that I'm rested because the inside temperature reading is 82. That's what I set the thermostat for. Yes, I take off my clothes and no I don't use a blanket. The windows are up so bug bites are not an issue. The privacy curtain takes care of any peepers. I don't set the #### thing for 65 degrees and make the truck run all night long. It only comes on for a few minutes a handful of times throughout the night. I sleep through it just fine, but that's me.

Hell, Swift hires humans, they are below a dogs level, otherwise someone would report them to animal welfare.

Bronco I quote you as saying (0 .and i am getting almost 9.5 mpg out of my volvo 780 ) Prove it. I can't even get that running empty.
The biggest load of BS I see on most alternative engine sites is probably on fuel flows. Below are some representative SFC (specific fuel consumption) figures for various engine types. SFC describes how much fuel is burned in pounds per hour to produce 1 hp. One US gallon of Avgas weighs about 6 lbs. SFC is one measure on how efficient an engine is. The lower the number, the more efficient.
    Automotive engines .40-.50
    Small Lycoming/ Continental engines .42-.47
Large injected Lycoming/ Continental engines .37-.45
    Turbo compound engines .34-.39
    Light Diesel engines .27- .30
Industrial diesel engines .23-.27 Cummins diesels in a Dodge pickup only get about 16 MPG and they weig far less than a tractor trailer.

It's interesting how people start driving OTR to "get away from all the BS"

Compared to life in corporate America, the BS in trucking is incredibly low. There is a lot more whining though.

Does this gun make me look fat?
