What about staying cool when it's 90 degrees outside and a 1000% humidity outside???

Go ask your DM about that, they will issue you a FAN :biggrin_25513:

And nope... I ain't kidding. That's their answer for even running in the SW during the summer.

Previous poster is right, you can (and on occasion will) be terminated for any inverter being in a Swift tractor. If you put your truck in the shop for any reason (including B service) the mechanics can and will cut any wired inverter loose, and will nark you out even for the ones plugged into the outlets. Learn to pull them out and hide them in safe locations before even putting it in the shop to avoid the chance.

I'd have a bag for my inverter and all the stuff that runs on it and put it on my back when I get out of the truck. I've heard of other companies doing the same thing snooping through drivers trucks to rat them out. But thanks for the heads up.

I've got a "plug in" style inverter in my truck. Just a little 200w job that I use to charge my blue-tooth. Of course, that is off the record. :biggrin_25523:

My truck doesn't have the bunk heater. It's got the "Icon Optimum Idle" in it. It works fairly well at keeping the truck at a comfortable temperature when it's cold out.

  6. I was told the plug in kind are toleradted. Also you can thank the idiot driver who burned down his truck because he wanted it to thump like his gangsta mobile.

as for what you need in an inverter to run a device, you need to know the watts said device requires, if you are not sure, look on the label for the amps and volts it uses, amps x volts = watts, get an inverter that exceeds the wattage needs.
as for idiling at swift, just remove the fuse while you idle, most of their trucks are volvos, and the fuse is #59, most of their fuse panels have a list describing what each fuse goes to, just read that and find the 1 for the qualcomm, most are #59.
turn the truck off, remove the fuse, restart the truck and idle away :)

ps, if you are unclear on the fuse location, it is under the dash top, pull out the cup holder and remove the 2 screws, then lift the lid up :p

I talked to a dumb driver the other day who has a "JunkStar" that he can't seem to override the shut down on. I asked how he survived in the desert in the summer.

"I have a window plug from the idle air people. I added a 14" 12V fan to the big hole. I have a special Tshirt that I take a sprayer bottle and spray myself down with water.":biggrin_25526:

What a dummy! He has been at Swift for over 2 years.
