That is another thing I liked about maverick. There was no pressure to go out even when freight was booming. Heck; if I wanted to take a month off no biggie. Never did, and I would not have gotten paid, but they were good about staying home if you had something to take care of as long as I was empty or they had a driver available to come to my house and swap me a empty.

I feel your pain and can so relate! You've put out and done GREAT things for the company that only YOU know about, but in the end, it seems like it amounts to nothing and no one cares! In my heart i dont believe this is true, that no one cares, its just that the company is so large that its great drivers get lost in the mix! I could be wrong, but i feel that if the top dogs knew they would adjust and show you the respect you deserve!
On the good side of things, I you aren't getting along with your DM you can alway change and get another one. To me this is better than quitting, especially after reading on HERE what other drivers say about THEIR company! CLEARLY, THE GRASS AIN'T GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE! -
Swift passed me today going way more than 62 lolol!! -

Well if any company got us home on time and actually didn't bug us while we were home, that would be amazing. At GTI we got time off starting when we put in our time on the QC. They turned our trucks down and we were stuck at 60 mph,so even Swift trucks passed us...

Heck, even Army trucks can pass GTI.....
nicnat2 Thanks this. -
I am a driver for Swift. The trainer I had just got his award for 9 years accident free. I drive for a dedicated account and we have numerous drivers with 1,000,000 miles accident free. As I am in New England I have driven in snow and ice. I have seen many trucks off the road or on thier sides and have not seen even one from Swift. This must mean something.
JustSonny, Travelinman and jtrnr1951 Thank this. -
That NE Swifties are smart enough to park when it gets nasty?
Sorry, ex-swifty here... couldn't resist. -
everybody should have a no go point.
I told my dm that if I feel the need for chains it means that it is time to park. got no arguement. nothing in the box is worth wrecking for. just have to use you head and you stay out of trouble. I have passed up many parking spaces in truck stops because I didn' feel comfortable with them.
some of the best advice I have been given is that if something you are thinking about doing seems like a dumb move don't do it. just know your comfort zone and don't go outside it.Palazon Thanks this. -
Being from Michigan driving on snow and ice is not something that is new to me. However not every driver on the road has that knowledge, and second it's a whole lot different at nearly 40 tons than in the family car. So there have been many occasions I got off the road. Not because I could'nt drive on it But beacause of what I see others doing who can't drive on it. Not once did my decision get questioned. I have put chains on twice but only to say I did it. One of those times was to get over Doners Pass. WOW what a ride. Slow and Easy. all in all not bad.
My advice to those who have never chained. The best time to learn how is in July...not DecemberTravelinman Thanks this.
