I use a headset when I need to, otherwise I avoid the bone whil driving. I’m not big on talking and driving anyhow. They are pretty strict and will cover everything during orientation. Not a big deal.

Slip seating is a loaded question……..

    To summarize -

extra board gets whatever truck is available on your go out day. It’s possible to change trucks during the week but not likely. I’ve yet to have to do it.

Most Drivers are on a “program.” Think - 3 drivers in 2 trucks, or 7 in 5 or something similar. Senior drivers get assigned trucks but they’ll still get used when you off, so you can leave anything in it. I’ve got a 1,000,000 mile driver’s truck this week with his name on the side. He’s probably on vacation.

Lots of options for start days/times and schedules. 5 on, 2 off; 6 on, 2 off; 6 on, 3 off, 5 on, 5 off; etc. Start times are anywhere from around 3am-11am for GM. Grocery is mostly nights, unless you’re senior.

I’m on extra board by choice, so I could get the days off that I want. Start time is 7am. Well, departure time anyways, I start about an hour earlier.
