1 acre for $25k? No thanks. I want something with some decent acreage, not a suburb sized lot.
This is all just dreaming though, maybe in another 5 years I can think about buying something.

For $25k you should certainly be getting more than just one acre.snowman1980 Thanks this.

Foodliner vs oakley transport vs IRC in central Florida cam stay out 6 wk on 1wk off 3 years safe otr (reefer, flatbed) which is best? Also for penuematic oakley transport bs bulkmatic?
-
Of those--I have only driven for Oakley Transport.
Based on my resulting knowledge/experience--I would put them at the bottom of both of your question "lists" above.....
Given the choices shown--I fail to see how you could really go wrong with Indian River Transport.
Bulkmatic is (at least mostly) dry bulk--and thus, probably won't pay as much as the other options.

Even though Houston has had a influx of cali ppl. I still would recommend the Houston area. But for work cryogenic companies tend to pay well. But they have a crap ton of rules to deal with. But Air Products or Linde/Praxair are the better two to work for.
Fuel hauling is a good gig also. But mainly if you get on with a private company. Instead of a 3rd party carrier.
The LPG industry is a pretty good career also. If you get on with the right carrier. I like the fact of not having to slip seat. And also pulling the same trailer everyday in this industry.
I stay far away from food grade and chemical tanker companies. Thats too much like OTR to me. But there are several of those type companies in Houston.
For the most part. If you have a CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements. Along with the TWIC, you will always have a job in Houston.
Most decent paying companies have driver facing cameras. And you can't text or call while driving. That could be a deal breaker for some.
Pay is 85k-130k just depends on what company you choose. And cost of living is great compared to NY.
So come on down the food is great. But I CANT AGREE WITH SOME OF THE LOCALS ON THE BBQ. Houston has nothing on Memphis or Kansas City style BBQ!!!!!!!!Speedy Sailor, Nashville, RockinChair and 2 others Thank this. -
This is actually extremely good feedback.
THANK YOU!!!
(He's right about the KC BBQ, too....that stuff rocks!

I can remember being completely blown away the first time I had burnt ends in KC...haz-matguru Thanks this.

Oh my Lord, there was a BBQ restaurant that use to be in the casino some years back. I forget the name of it, but I think it was one of the premiere BBQ restaurants of KC. Maaaaaan after I ordered those burnt ends I started looking for real estate in KC!!!!!!!!
Tasted so good I was going to abandon the truck. And just eat it everyday!!!wulfman75, RussianBearTruckeR and dave01282000 Thank this. -
Personally, I don't have any info on either one of them--good, or bad.
Of course...your best bet is to talk with one (or more) of their drivers (if you can).
