    Volvo allows synthetic. I just checked the owners manual. I ran semi the first 100K to break in the engine. It’s Semi from now on.

    The new engines have tighter tolerances so you get less soot

    @Midnightrider909 .. I have been using Semi synthetic blend for 3.5 yrs and do my oil change at 30k and haven't had any mechanical problems at all...first with dd15 motor and now my paccar mx13 motor... I currently use rotella T5...

    I think full synthetic only makes sense with longer change intervals.

    Get you one of those quick drain valve plugs for your oil Pan and then you can take oil samples out and have your oil tested....
