I gather that this T.E.A.M. Trucking is a contract carrier that uses dump trucks. There are several of those around here.

The trucking company has a contract with a quarry, to use one example, and they haul the material to the quarry's customers. Those customers may be concrete companies, that get their sand hauled in on dump trucks, stores that sell stone, or construction companies that need stone, crusher run, or whatever delivered to their jobsites.

This kind of work is often paid by percentage.

Are these runs intrastate-only? If so, a log wouldn't be needed, and I assume a driver doing them wouldn't get paid per-mile. He'd get paid per hour or a flat salary. Yanking a quarry load to a customer means waiting to dump and then dead-heading back to the hole in the ground. Such a run shouldn't be a long one. It wouldn't even be considered regional.

What kind of rig would one be driving? Autocar? Euclid?

Sounds like another Mokan Distribution trucking company. Safety is not their concern either

That's why we need unions strong in the trucking industry again. These big companies need to be organized, FedX Freight, Old Dominion, Saia, Central, Ups's Overnite Freight all these companies that do terminal to terminal freight hauling. Unions have a place in this industry.

Good report: lots of trucking companies in Tenn. hiding behind Covenant saying, 'we treat you much better" but are bed-partners.

Expose them I say, CRE would wash the truck twice, duct tape the problen,
yellow sheet said: REPAIRED and off you went within 20 mins. to your next destination - oh yeah, breaking down 348 miles down the road, fully loaded. An O/O - big joke - paid for repairs on the road and then had lots taken out his check. I got a few negative checks after working all those hours!

    Everyone, report.
Everyone, small outfit counts as much in this poll.:biggrin_2557:

I was a Teamster. They took their dues from my check. When I had a legitimate issue with management, they declined to advocate for me. The only thing they did do was sign off on the driving school attendance I needed for a ticket. Yes they had a school licence, no there was no school.

Summary: useless, expensive and corrupt. Personal experience only.

Then, it is up to you to go over the business agent's head and press the issue. The BA may have also thought your issues with management were not relevant to your contract.."Useless, expensive and corrupt" ? Generalizing, aren't we ? Good luck with those scab companies, there seems to be a lot of them..

    Guitar Man Thanks this.
