This is good news, finally someone is easing up on those stupid 5 gig caps!

    From the site:

I don't know about you all, but I'd rather have the speed throttled than get charged overages.

    Here's the link:

Here is their coverage map, I'd check it before I put my order in. Coverage is pretty good on the east side of the 48 states, still kind of spotty out west. But they have expanded their network quite a bit in the last 12 months.

Coverage looks good if you live in a city in the east, otherwise limited.
    Go with milicom.
They are only a little more a month, no contract, and you can choose sprint or verizon coverage. It is unlimited also.

Yeah, I've looked into them. $70 is a little bit out of my budget. I have a grandfathered Sprint card myself, no overages for me either. I'm paying about $40 a month with an employee discount.

I just found this info on another message board and thought I'd pass it on, in case anyone is interested. If you run primarily east of I35, this is a pretty good deal. They have all the major roads pretty well blanketed with 3g coverage.

The new overdrive from Sprint has the regular caps, but it is 4G capable and is completely unlimited in 4G markets.

I have an old sprint also that is grandfathered.
I wonder if I could buy the new air card and use it without getting a new contract.
I have been out of contract for quite some time.

T-Mobile is spending a ton of money right now to upgrade their cell tower back haul infastructure to add capacity and to gear up for their 4G offering. Mid the midwest region they are currently installing 4 DS1 circuits per tower which is delivered on an OC-12 pipe will allows for tons of future bandwidth. Most cell companies are already in the process of migrating over to pure ethernet for voice and data delivery from the tower back to their hub MSC equipment.

Your best bet is to keep that Sprint card alive. I had an AT&T grandfathered account, I'm still kicking myself for letting it die. If you need a new Sprint card, buy one off of ebay, then go to sprint.com and do an ESN swap online. A guide on how to do that can be found here:

It's better to do it yourself online, rather than call them, that way you know the person on the phone from India didn't knock your plan to the newer limited plan.

Yeah, I was quite impressed when I looked at their coverage map compared to what it was a year ago.

I was told by a Sprint person (recently when I upgraded to a Blackberry) that Sprint's 4G will be released in limited areas starting on the East Coast (at first) with no bandwidth limit in 4G areas. In 3G areas, bandwidth will be throttled to their slower "dial-up" speeds with a 5G cap.
So, changing to the 4G service won't be worth the money until they roll out 4G in a lot of areas.
And no, if you have an existing contract, the 4G will cost no more than the 3G does now.

Exactly, when I upgraded my laptop, my card didn't fit my laptop, so I bought a U720 off EBay for $35, and sold my card for $70.
