T680 First Impressions - and what's up with the w900??

    The W900L and Pete 389 have a place in the trucking industry. They won't go away for awhile, some dealerships won't stock them others will stock a lot of them. They all meet CARB and when driven properly the new ones are getting very impressive fuel numbers. A lot of the hype around the "hoods" are they are hand built still in the factories, the new "fuel efficient" models are cheaper built with robots and cheaper materials, crank the cost up for the latest technology and boom you have a larger profit margin. There are lobbyists in dealerships just like in our wonderful government.

    Best bet is to look through www.truckpaper.com In the freightliner section I would look at Century Class, Columbia, Cascadia, Classic/Classic XL. Stay away from others such as the M2's and SD's because those aren't what your looking for but most (not all) everything in the Kenworth and Pete listings will be open game for class 8 trucks instead of vocational. What the International listing too as they have a considerable amount of vocational trucks as well. Never drove a Prostar but the 9000 series trucks feel like your driving a combine and it sucks. Just my .02

    Kenworth better not kill of the W900, it's the last surviving bloodline to it's past.

    Sorry, found a copy of Kenworth: The first 75 years in my garage and got nostalgic.
