TA/Petro used to do fine when they had no reserved parking. The restaurants also used to be full with drivers.
Love's is going all out on all the new truck stops and they seem to be making money and have all free parking. Maybe that's the new business model. Lots of smaller truck stops. Maybe they will just sell everything so cheap and you pay for what you use. You want to use the bathroom that will be $1.50 you want TP that an extra $1.00. you want a parking spot that $14
TA changing to all paid parking??

The 3 newest PFJ. 9,22,12. I pretty sure those are number of parking spaces for each location.

It's bad enough there isn't enough parking to go around for us anyway. Now we have to pay for it ?? TA used to charge for parking and it's not a shock if they start charging for 24 hour parking again. There is a fee for reserved parking also which should be plenty. TA is a large cooperation and they should be able to afford free parking, they have some of the largest parking lots and are connected to Iron Skillet and Country Pride. They should have plenty of money and do not need to scam Drivers for all parking. The only time I can agree with paying for parking are the smaller independent truck stops who sell Diesel fuel and have limited spaces. Like most of the responses, It's a business and I agree if they need the extra funds to help their business. A Multi Billion dollar Cooperation like TA does not.

About a month ago I stopped at the Petro in Greensburg, IN to use the Cat Scale, and do a 30 min break. They have a pretty good sized parking lot, but the only spots in the whole lot that were free were those around the perimeter, all the spots in the center of the lot were paid spots. Looked to be about 75% or 80% of the entire lot was paid parking.

You can have your loves... all of them.Pete jockey and exhausted379 Thank this. -
When the revenue numbers were posted in one of the truckers magazines a month or so ago it showed TA-Petros numbers down.
To counter the loss in revenue the new CEO of TA-Petro stated that to try and make up for that lost revenue he was going to be expanding his reserved paid parking operations to make the lost money up.
Would be interested to see how the numbers are now. I'd bet they are getting worse.
They've got the worst rewards program in the industry, highest priced showers, ridiculously high fast food, generally fuel that's a couple pennies more than the competition and you gotta pay just to park?
Sounds like a ship that's fixing to capsize. Go ahead and try and market yourself to a small exclusive bunch of truckers. You'll be out of business real soon as your competitors thrive on the customers you have lost because of greed.PTUtransport Thanks this.
