I can honestly see what the OP is getting at. Especially when businesses like Autozone etc check auto batteries out for free and have no fine print if you decide not to buy anything.
It would make sense from a business standpoint (Consumer's POV) if T/A would at least credit the cost of the inspection, or at least part of it, if you wind up buying the batteries and having them do the installation. And, if not, you then pay for the battery check.
I learned a while back what passingthru said about replacing them all at the same time. One bad one will wreak chaos on the other 3.
