For anyone saying "That's your money, call the police"... please realize that there is a con game out there where a "buddy/accomplice" will pick up the cash while the so-called "victim" is temporarily away (ahem, cough, cough) and soon afterward confronts the cashier with "Where's my money?"
No, I'm not saying or accusing the OP of this scam... but only that it is a fact that this scam does occur with very similar modus operandi. However, I do question his delay and putting it to TTR... before reporting it to the authorities.driverdriver Thanks this. -
I was on the reverse side of this at a Flying J once.
I put in for a $100 advance at the pump. I went in, waited in line, then got to the register. Told the cashier. He said the advance was for $140... And I thought that I had put $100, but figured I typed it in wrong or something. Collected the cash and signed the computer thing.
I then bought some lunch, and went back out to my truck, and ate. Once I was done, just before I drove off, I got ready to throw the receipt into the trash can, and I glanced at it and noticed that nothing was right - company name, truck number, my name, nothing. I went back inside and told the cashier, and the other driver was just standing there with a look on his face that was about as bad as it would be if someone had ran over his dog. I returned the money and got it all straightened out.
This could've been what happened here. The driver that got your cash may not have noticed the error. Hell, if I hadn't glanced at that receipt, I would've been long gone and that poor guy would've been out $140 and had one big headache.
HOWEVER, it is the cashiers responsibility to verify identity before giving out money. I was wearing a Maverick shirt with a Maverick badge, and it never occurred to that cashier to verify before handing me money.
Regardless of how they want to spin it, TA is in the wrong here, and it's their responsibility to correct it. I would definitely call the police and my company. Even if the cops can't do anything, you can bet your company will be up their ### about that, and TA is not going to let a fuel or service contract fly out the window over $200. -
FloTheWaitress and KW Cajun Thank this.

The root of the problem is these truck stops today have such a casual disregard for the fact they are giving someone's money out, and don't check ID or anything before doing so. If I put in for a cash advance, my co-driver, or partner, or even my Mother all have no business getting my money for me. The truck stop should check ID on anyone and everyone they are giving and cash back to. If they don't, that is their problem, and their liability. -
in addition to a police report that states they claim they were in error, I would go up the chain with TA too. Names , titles, times etc, get it all down. Hell , nowadays they can email video footage too. get it all!!

Could the employee be working with some one and hoped the driver would just walk away/

another think to remember is to sign off after using the kiosk, I left it open and somebody took 10,000 point from my account, that is 100 bucks!
