Was in the Joplin Petro last week. Several signs leading up to the shower area stating "No pets allowed in shower rooms"
I can certainly agree with that.
That's what dog groomers are for or your shower at the house....

It's not always about it being a service animal, there are also emotional support animals, yes, I agree it gets out of hand with the oddball animals, but for dogs and cats, no, it's not unrealistic.
As much as I despise the people with fake service animals, my parents used to have a Yorkie/Poodle mix, when my Mom died in '03, that dog became my Dad's constant companion and "comforter", I sometimes think that dog kept him alive. When the dog died suddenly in 2009, my Dad spiraled into deep depression, drugs didn't work. He owned his own business and almost lost it because he lost his will to work, his will to get up, in 3 yrs he tried to kill himself 5 times. In 2011, one of his customers (he was an exterminator) who knew what was going on, had a family friend with a Yorkie they couldn't keep. A woman in Washington State had gotten the dog as a puppy, she was pregnant at the time, twice within the the first 6 months the babies were home the dog nipped at them, she rehomed it to a friend who was moving here to Colorado. A year later, I don't recall the specific reason, they had to rehome him and another dog, via some friends (my Dad's customer) they were put in contact with my Dad. They brought the dog over to visit him, within 10 minutes the two were inseparable. Within 2 months my Dad's depression was almost completely gone, he had his motivation back, his will to live, etc.. In late 2013 he retired, the two of them went everyplace together, yes he got a fake card that registered him as an emotional support animal. BUT, and I can pretty much guarantee this, had it been required, he could easily have gotten his primary care Dr. and a couple of other Dr's he saw, to write letters in support of Henry as an ESD. Only place that every gave him a hard time was a Wendy's. My Dad had that dog as his constant companion until June 2018 when he was forced into a nursing home, two of our family members from California drove him to adopt Henry, two days after Henry left my Dad spiraled into depression again, they used to send him pics and video clips of Henry all the time, sadly in late 2019 Henry died of an unknown illness, they actually think it was poison. The day my Dad got the news, he again spiraled into depression, only in the last few months has he started to come out of it.InTooDeep, scottied67 and not4hire Thank this. -
My HS girlfriend had a cat, stress reliever, no, pretty sure it caused stress, from day one it hated me, would hiss, swipe and try to bite me any time I came within 3 ft of it.Bean Jr. Thanks this.

I don't see any good reason not to allow dogs in as long as they are on a leash and behave themselves. Good hygiene for your dog is good. Also, they are our companions on the road. Why not? Let them in if they behave themselves.

I think a few company terminals have started to offer that service as well, or refer drivers to a place nearby. There used to be a vet/groomer near the Werner terminal in Denver that drivers were always referred to, they had limited truck parking as well.

Let the dog in. Hygiene is priority #1 before go to bed.

I sleep better next to the dog than the wife, takes up less space, doesn't kick, doesn't snore, occasionally lets out a contented sigh.
