Im searching for a better GPS setup than i have. I use a square screen laptop (an older one) and a $100 dollar 7" widescreen touchscreen. Because they are different in size/shape, the screen does not display all the way on the touch screen, and the clicks (or taps) are off. I cannot touch the bottom or top buttons, and i often miss clicks because of this.

I need to find a better solution for a reliable gps. Instead of buying a widescreen laptop to match the touch screen, i was thinking about using a windows 7 tablet pc.

Does anyone use a tablet pc running windows 7 with a digital map or gps software? If so which tablet would you recommend?

Does anyone use android or iOS? How do they work out compared to a windows device?

My sugestion to you is go look at the web site DHGATE.COM They have tablet PCs for under $200. I Bought a flytouch3 with windshield mount and key board and other goodies for around $220.00. Installed the Co Pilot Truck app from the android market and it works like a charm.

I looked into the Flytouch 3, it seems like something id be interested in if i decide to buy an Android product.

My company uses something called Maptuit. Im not sure if thats the GPS software or not, it might be Navteq or Navigo, or something like that. Does anyone know if i can download that software onto my laptop? The directions that are sent to my Qualcomm are very good, theres rarely any problems with the directions.

However my CoPilot gps screws up every chance it gets. I find it nearly useless in cities. I really want to replace it with a more reliable software.

I found something called Mobile Navigator for android, which seems nice. Im not sure if theres a truck version of it tho, or if it has truck routing already built in.

I was also looking at the DeLorme Street Atlas 2011. It doesnt have a demo and i dont want to buy it without finding out more information about it first.

Has anyone used Mobile Navigator, DeLorme Street Atlas, or the Maptuit's GPS? How are they for trucks?

That is the latest version, which is why it surprises me that you are having issues. If you downloaded it a while ago, it may have the "2010.03" maps (look in the "About CoPilot" screen to check,) but even if it does, we have found this version to be very effective in most cases. If you downloaded it more recently, then the map version will say "2010.04" which is newer maps, but even if it has the last mapset, it surprises me when you say it is almost useless in the cities. Do you mean that it doesn't have the street or the address you are looking for? Or is it a routing thing?

Its a routing problem. And by cities i mean the large, not-built-for-trucks northeast cities, from virginia and up.

Im working on reinstalling Copilot because i reformatted my hard drive, and its saying License Invalid... so i sent in a message to them, ill have to wait til tomorrow to get it.

A few things that have happened in cities is copilot telling me to make left turn where left turns are illegal, even for cars. Telling me to turn right at the top of a bridge at an intersection where there is no turn, saying "turn left and another left" through a median, sending me down weight restricted roads, stuff like that. It also wants to send me down these little tiny streets where cars can hardly fit when the next road is truck friendly. This is when i cancel guidance and watch the map myself until i get to a highway.

Id say 90% of the time copilot is dead accurate. But if i have to go to a northeast city, thats when it gets real bad.
