I agree with you. I think that the guys that complain that this industry is over regulated, are the reason for the strict regulations. They want to run 3 logs, speed, not sleep, etc. When there were a lot less laws they were still not abided by so more laws get put in place. They would run lawless if they could.

Tailgating is probably my biggest pet peeve of driving, trucks or cars. It's a byproduct of our "instant gratification society". Younger women seem to be the worst tailgaters in cars, but trucks are a combination of things. Already late, driver tired, driver using their size to to be aggressive. In my younger days, I'd mash on the brakes, that would get them off my tail, but lately that just increases the rage of the tailgater, who is probably already pissed off, causing them to do even more dangerous things. With distracted driving now, drivers probably aren't even aware they are tailgating. It's one of the false ideas of driving, like speeding, thinking they'll get there sooner if they do that.

I drive a 60 mph truck and I get tail gated all the time, even when its just the 2 of us. What also gets me is when someone flies up behind me and then changes lanes with only a few get between trucks. If I so much as tap my brakes, instant collision.
I have a dashcam. I see them tailgating, turn it so its filming them, then I post it on their facebook page (like I have done with FedEx)

I agree, tailgating is extremely dangerous, especially at highway speeds. Those driver should lose their license for putting the public in danger. You do that to me in my personal vehicle and you will see my brake lights in a hurry.

Also dangerous is these slow dam trucks driving in the center lane totally oblivious to everyone around them. If you can't run the speed limit stay the **** out of the way. I'm not sure what happened to common sense never mind common courtesy but obviously neither is common anymore! It's bad enough trucks are restricted to two lanes on most highways, the last thing we need is a rolling roadblock. Don't get me wrong, I know there are times of the day and certain locations that it's a pain in the ### dealing with merging traffic. I don't blame anyone for avoiding those situations but move back over once you clear those areas.

What happened to drivers looking out for each other and helping make each other's job a little easier instead of being a selfish ### holding a steering wheel. Smfh

Sorry for the rant, obviously a pet peeve lol

Hi RoadCall, in case you don't know, many trucks have governors that limit their speed to 62 mph, and moving back and forth from the center lane to the right lane is actually more dangerous (and frustrating for the truck driver) than just staying in the center. I do have a problem with the rolling roadblock you speak of, where 2 governed trucks take 4 miles to pass one another, That's because the moron being passed is too lazy to shut the speed control off and let the other truck pass, and should be hung by their gonads for doing so.

i as in my 4 wheeler a few days ago and an O/O got so close to me i felt i had to floor it just to give him the room to stop in case something happened.. He got so close i could not see his headlights... he was no joke withing 5 feet of me. If it was a marked truck i would of called his company...

I did say when the conditions call for it stay in the center lane till it's safe to go back to the right lane. There's no way a 62mph truck should be in the center lane when in a rural area or anytime of day when there's nobody merging onto a highway. I've driven governed trucks before but I have enough sense to get out of the way when I can to keep from impeding traffic. I still believe in common courtesy for others around me regardless of how slow my truck is.

The real problem is we have very few truck drivers anymore and we are inundated by nothing more than steering wheel holders.

A lot of bully truck drivers out there. If I was a trainer, and I had to tell a student twice to back off, he would be all done. It must be all these individuals that could not get a job anywhere else, so they turned truck driver, and are little more than a 4 wheel driver sitting in a big rig.....what happened to being proud of one's behavior....

For truck drivers that are outright bullies or extremely careless, do they ever get turned into their companies by other truck drivers?
