I would assume this driver was fired because this WAS NOT THE FIRST call-in on him. Drivers need to be fired when call-ins become a common occurrence on the same driver. At some point, safety has to see a trend. One call-in after 2 years of no call-ins is one thing. 3 call-ins inside of 3 months ... you've got a dangerous driver whose going to cost you a lot of money soon, and perhaps others lives. At some point the driver was probably sat down and put on notice, and as it turned out his behavior was in-correctable and they said enough is enough.

Both the general public and other professional drivers pass me too closely, so I end up following too closely, until I can either (a) exchange lanes with them, (b) wait for them to pull away (generally more slowly than they caught up to me), (c) fall back to help them pull away and slow everyone down behind me (causing more to do the same), or (d) I kill them...

You confused me. Are you turining the cam on them when you are alongside them or do you have a cam on the back of your trailer? Also, are you talking about posting to the company facebook? I like that idea! Thanks.

Regardless of the type of vehicle a person is driving, that is piss poor behavior and dangerous, being at the wheel of a CMV only makes it worse by the potential amount of carnage it can cause, the obvious disregard for life and the disrespect to those who do right and represent the profession in a responsible manner.

If you are responding to my post STexan , your assumption would be wrong. The driver in question had not ever had any call-ins or bad reports , he did not have a history on any such thing. He had only 1 chargeable accident on his entire 20 years with GSF....they just had a zero tolerance for that type of aggression...it wasn't like he didn't know the consequences either...we had quarterly safety meetings , and we all had to take turns on accident review boards.
they expected us to keep a professional attitude , especially behind the wheel. I'm sure you've seen the trucks they are ROLLING BILLBOARDS

    here is one for reference

Highway speed and a split second off another vehicles bumper should equate to CDL revocation. Nascar tactics on America's highways is inexcusable. I see it everyday as well. This is one area that law enforcement needs to increase enforcement.

It's been my experience that drivers with billboards on their trailers, are generally much better drivers than drivers without. When I drove a "billboard" trailer, I knew the companies image was on the line, and respected that.( not that I would tailgate anyway) It seems drivers from smaller companies, O/O's with nothing on their trucks or trailers,( which is illegal, isn't it?) intermodal trucks or rental trucks, and of course, rock haulers, trying to get 1 more load, are much more to blame.

Maybe so, but you have to wonder what the legal remnification of that is. A good lawyer might be able to turn that around on a company in an wrongful termination lawsuit. I would bet a lot of companies don't want to deal with that scenario either.

I actually take pride in what i do. I was just brought up that way. Bad driving makes you look like a as&^=% €. Not mention endangerment. There really is no excuse. Had a o/o come in the yard to unload & he was in my face about getting his next load. I looked at him and said if you want it off faster you can help. He went over and didnt say another word. Pretty sure he's that guy trying to make a hood ornament of of your rig.
