If I had my own personal vehicle parked at the company yard/terminal/etc., I don't see why I'd want to take my truck home, unless it was something where the load routed me through there, and I was just stopping in for the night. It's not just repairs. These trucks are supposed to be regularly serviced. Better to let them do it on your down time, instead of making you have it done while you're on the road.
Although it might be advised that you don't leave anything particularly valuable in your truck while you're out of it.

Most companies have a radius from the closest terminal to you that will determine if you take the truck home or not. All of them will allow you to park on the terminal when you go for home time.

interesting how some drivers want to take the truck home and others DO NOT want to take the truck home
i always wanted the ability to take the truck home, this way, if you want to go by the house between runs, it wont be a problem, you dont have to shuttle to a specific placeDrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
When the trucks home, you're responsible for it. At the terminal, you're not. However, at the terminal, it might get used for a temporary replacement if another driver's truck is down. I've even gone thru orientation and we used a driver's truck for the roadtest who was on home time. And one time, I finished orientation and got an immediate assignment with a load and no trucks were available, so, I was told to use truck so-n-so for the run which had the drivers stuff in it.
