i still listen when advice is given i dont pay attention to most of it but i do listen i dont offend anyone if i can help it and most of those that give advice i think mean well so as not to hurt there feeling i listen i dont agree with most but if it does no harm i listen , if its no good i just disregard it and just move on.
and i heard some real storys in perticular from students of truck driving schools #### they no a lot , but i listen and on occasion i hear some pretty good tales and most will at least get a grin BUT i listen, WE ALL HAVE TO LEAERN, when we stop leaning we are indeed in troubel.
and for those that have fell by the wayside i can assure you they didnt do it because they wanted to , we can all fail none of us are infalibel but i can tell you this without reservation WE NEVER LOSE TILL WE QUIT justr because we make mistakes and lose a truck dosent mean we have to give up trucks are a dime a dozen if you want to continue this business just get another one and turn and burn eact time you try you learn somthing new if you keep on trting sooner or later you will get it right.
mosrt that fail made the mistake of leasing a truck to a big company and they believeed all there promises and within a year ther gone , its tough to makew it with a lease in pericular if you have a high overhead thats the downfall of most.
but listening to advice is never a bad thing its what you do with that advice that can make it bad and the advice might eve be a good thing you never no till you listen.
and just because you lose your truck for whatevrer reason dosent mean your a failure if you like what you do if it is a career choice simple just get another one.
ive been out here a long time and i to have lost a truck or to but im still here i now have six and there all payed for along with there trailers but im stll here and going strong and ive learned a few things along the way the main thing ive learned for me is not to deal with a #### finance company that can cost you big time , if i want it and i need it I PAY FOR IT the worst thing that can happen to this business is for you to get envolved with a bank or a finance company, you dont think so just stop and think about what the banks have done to this country and what there doing now , believe it they are not your friend.
but be that as it may , never be afraid to listen to advice it dosent cost a thing and some of it just might be good.
best of luck to all. southernpridescottied67, mizdageeragn and trucker43 Thank this. -

This driving gig is a retirement thing for me. I too chose the company driver route. You don't make very much money so forget it if you need to make money. I do like the fact that when / if the door falls off as I am leaving after a run for some home time it's not my problem. The insurance and other benefits are also worth more than money. After about a year at this I don't believe that this is any way to make real money. You have to be very cleaver to do this well and I just don't see how you can make very good money. I presently make about 25% of what I did before. Much less stress but in my opinion very underpaid for all the skills you must master to do this well. Mind you I'm not complaining, if you enjoy this the rewards are peace of mind and an interesting day most of the time.
scottied67 Thanks this.
