Day three is down. We went over load securement, had an issue with one of the guys in class was playing on his phone and was takin in for a sit down about his inattentiveness. They finally took us on the drive test and has us do a pretrip check. Then lunch. Spent the second half of the day getting our trucks and taking a test for one of their customers. I was issued 3 total trucks. First one, a 2014 mack with 223k, i found a serious water leak in the bunk window that allowed water to leak inside the wall, soaking they insulation. I was willing to wait for them to fix it and get the wall dry, the had concerns over mold and mildew, so they gave me a second truck.
The second truck they gave me a 2014 mack with 302k but they ended up finding that one was not ready due to license plate expiration stickers being faded and being a dot violation abs it would be an all day event to get new.
My third truck they gave me an option of a 2016 mack or a 2016 freightliner cascadia. Both automatics, both less than 25k. I chose the mack. All their new trucks will be autos. No way around it. Eventually the whole fleet will be autos. Seems they find they increase fuel by an average of 1mpg. Tomorrow will be about an hour in class for Qualcomm macros, and getting our paperwork finalized as well as getting issued our trailers then off to get our first loads, we also get issued our paychecks.
So far seems like a decent place. They we really apologetic for the truck issuance mess up. They definitely don't pull any punches and will tell you the cold hard truth up front. Even the stuff you don't want to hear. If they sugar coat ####, or make it sound like bubble gum fantasies and unicorn dreams, ive not seen it.
I find I'm actually looking forward to driving the auto, should be interesting to see how it does with a load. My first load leaves memphis going to Cleveland. Most likely delivering Monday. So I'll be home this weekend.
Taking the grey dog out to Memphis today

did you get a load through the house? how's the weather there? what kind of material are you hauling? just curious.......
-
Yeah im here at home. They issued me a 2016 Mack, first load was a coil going from Steel Dynamics Tulane to Cleveland. Weather is clear but cold
-
sounds good, when you get your truck do you have an equipment checklist and i thought read somewhere there anal about trailer tire preservation. tire pressure and all.....cool update....
-
Yeah I got it, they are anal about the checkoff list being correct. they didnt go too much into trailer tires really, other than they have the inflation system on the trailer. I got an 07 great dane, they are in the process of switching out a lot of the trailers for newer 2016 great danes. Decent set ups, automatic dump valves if you have a 2016 truck.
1catfish Thanks this. -
