Taking the plunge. My journey as an O/O.

I don't want to sound like a jerk but after driving that truck for as long as you have been I find it hard to believe you couldn't tell that the jakes were on the low setting
I dont know about your truck but from my experience jakes usually have 3 settings low is 2 cylinders medium is 4 cylinders and high is all 6 cylinders compression braking
you really should have been able to feel this or hear it unless your truck engine is really quiet and known what to do

 

Especially now, 8 months after most of us have seen nowhere but on TV.
We are truck drivers, as exposed as it can get, as vulnerable too with our often feeble health, I yet to see one ambulance carrying a person from a truck stop having difficulty breathing...or otherwise passing out. I've seen such "dying people" on China TV reports though - back in February or later on reports from Italy...

 

It makes me sick to think of another lockdowns and perhaps more free money to pass around by the government. The free money they would give away would make your hard earned money that much less worth it. Everybody go back to work and make your own money!

 

Only marginally dangerous? Do you know anybody that caught it? My wife is has lung damage due to covid. This is not the flue, when you see your spouse suffering from a disease such as this you would not be so dismissive of it. With your thinking I should be dead. I have cancer, very low white blood cell count after chemo. Doc decided that I should not receive chemo due to my low count. Wife gets covid, daughter gets covid, son in law gets covid. I don't.....is it a hoax? Ask my wife. Yup I am pissed at your cavalier attitude to a disease that affects many, and kills many. Just because YOU don't see it doesn't make it real.

 

I am sorry about your family health situation but the dismissiveness is not about not offering you empathy and ignoring those who might have indeed suffered from it and it is not even about questioning the very medical aspects of it. It is about evaluating the whole picture from which it does not seem so clear that the measures taken, and reconsidered again such as shutting down the whole country, restricting other freedoms would not do more harm than the disease itself. After all this time it is evident that the disease is not affecting everyone at the same level and doing the same damage to the body.

How about people who suffered from depression for losing their businesses, jobs, livelihoods - has anyone counted the increased number of suicidal cases? The social unrests and riots were not an odd and spontaneous phenomena either. The elections - the form in which they were conducted, evidently raised some issues too.

What more do you want to do about it anyway? We wear mask and wash hands what else? Do you want every person in the country to hole up for a month or a year?

 

Reefers have never been used to store corpses due to overflow demand in the USA to my knowledge

 

We’ve also never had a governor cram sick people into nursing homes either.

 

I have 4 close friends going through COVID right now. All confirmed positive.

Two a married couple, one 40 and one 45, no meds given after positive test. Flu and cold like symptoms and fever, they glided right through it and are perfectly fine. Again zero meds given. Both are fit and healthy.

Another married Active duty USN, 30ish 6 different meds daily, ‘fever of 102.5 was highest, cold and flu like symptoms. No hospital went through it at home. The rest of his family did not catch it.

Next is 40+ female, has intestinal issues prior to illness. Not sure on meds, has reported same cold and flu issues and slight fever. Just started coughing yesterday. Used this time off to stain shop floor and hopefully the coughing does not lead to worse problems.

when I say close friends. I mean come to my house and I go to theirs. So the media has hyped this crap up to such a level in order to tilt an election And it has worked. That is just my opinion.

with that being said. I don’t take it lightly. I don’t want it and I don’t want anymore people I know to get it. I have no doubt it affect different people in different ways and I don’t want to test that out so I am not mocking it at all. Especially those at risk. So the people at risk lock down. The people who wish or need to work mask up and go to work. You don’t want to wear a mask then don’t. Your business. I don’t know if it would help anyhow.

Who knows what next admin has in store for us.

 

How many cases of Flu do we have this year ???

 

How many of anything would be anyone's guess. The hospitals are too busy with covid.

One person recently died from a heart problem because they couldn't get care.


Everything else appears to be taking a back seat now to covid.
