As some of you may already know a deer hit me the last week and I have been going through hell to get the right end cap replaced on my truck every since it happened.
Houston said it would be five days to get it fixed for an hour fix. So I stop in Lancaster because I have to take a class and I figured I would have better luck here. Well went through the quick lane and the next day they wake me up at 7AM saying they where going to put the new qualcomm in.
Not a problem moved my truck to the spot and went to the drivers lounge. came back out to check on my truck and they movedd it back to the same place it was parked. I ask the guy what happened? he said you just got bypassed for another truck.
OK woke me up after only sleeping for four hours for nothing. 48 hours later they pull my truck into the shop and they replace the end cap in less than an hour. I go to find my truck as they said that it was by the truck wash and could not find it.
Go back into the back of the shop and see my truck still with the lock box on it and go back into the shop asking why the box was still on my truck. They tell me I have a EGR coolant leak and that it will hopefully get in the shop tomorrow.
At 3PM DM calls me and tells me truck will be ready at 5PM and I said hmm I don't think so it is still sitting out back and they have to get Cummings to look at it. She said run into the shop and verify it. The shop is now saying Thursday at 5PM.
So I call her back and she tells me to go see if Lancaster has other trucks. I say why and she says so we can switch you into another truck. I said I don't want another truck the ones here are dirty and three years older than mine and I have spent a lot of time and money getting mine into the shape it is.
Well Swift is losing money and we have to pay you $50 a day breakdown pay. I said you can keep your $50 breakdown pay because I have to live in this truck for up to six weeks at a time and I am not living in a piece of junk.
I told her if you got something newer or the same year as mine then I would not mind but you have to understand that I love my truck and it is clean and everything works.
This is ridiculous as hell and sorry guys I cannot give up my truck for a 2007 Volvo that has no drapes in the front. Missing cabinets doors stinks and is so dirty that I will never get it cleaned up.
Am I right here? What would you do in this situation? So far they have only had to pay me $50 in breakdown pay. I don't understand why I should suffer because Swift is losing money because I have to sit for two days for something that only took an hour to fix?
Seems to me they would get on the mechanics rear end and take their house away and give them a little trailer to live in. Why is it I got to give up my truck just because I am in shop status?
I'm sorry guys I am not giving up my truck when there is nothing wrong with it and it will be fixed tomorrow. I have to take a class tomorrow anyways so I will not be able to leave until late tomorrow night.
I just am now getting fed up with this crap! All I wanted was my bumper fixed in a timely manner and get on with it. Not to hear I got to give up my truck and take a truck that has twice the miles as mine does and is nasty as hell
Taking your truck away just because you are in shop status

Dude backed into me the other day and I need a new end cap also....but it ain't gettin fixed till I find a shop that will do it on the spot
-
Good luck on getting it done. Most likely it will be black and they won't paint it. Worst week at Swift so far. True colors seem to becoming out now...

By dispatcher do you mean your driver manager or some other person?
-
Hmm sorry when I drove in the 90's I called them dispatcher. DM or driver manager is what I meant. -
What was the final statement of your DM?
Okay, look I'm going to be blunt. They don't care if you love your truck, worked hard to fix it up and spent money on it. The fact is that we company drivers don't have a "my truck". The trucks we use can be switched on us at any time.
Your best statement to your DM is NOT but I love my truck. Is your DM on the Lancaster fleet? I don't remember what fleet you're on. If you and the DM are not on Lancaster, your best statement to make is: "I think Lancaster is trying to take a good truck from our fleet and dump a piece of garbage on our fleet."
Salt Lake City tried that when Thelma broke down. They tried to push off a volvo garbage truck on us permanently and keep Thelma. I told our DM and Fleet Manager and our Fleet Manager went FM crazyyyyyyyyy on the SLC guy. LOL
What needs to be done to the truck at this point? If it's piddly stuff ask your DM to demand it's release and then go to your home terminal to get whatever little stuff still needs to be done.
That's my two cents.BigShrek72, panhandlepat, Giorgio and 1 other person Thank this. -
Your DM can get much more accomplished and if not will go through the FM and even Terminal Man. !Injun Thanks this. -
It was actually my DM who said that and I am not out of Lancaster. I understand they can do this but I am not going to go into something else that I have to live in for up to six weeks at a time that looks like crap inside and out and will probably spend more time in the shop.
I was just talked to about leasing a truck and have no plans of doing this anytime soon but man if this happens I may think about it sooner or just go to work for someone else. One thing I am serious about is the company has to have decent equipment or else I am not working for them.
It's not all about the money but it is also about being able to be comfortable and actually have things work the way they should. If I wanted to drive a piece of junk I would just go home and be a gravel hauler and be home every night.
I'm not staying out on the road for six weeks in a truck I am not happy with. I don't get paid enough nor do I feel because the shop took two days to fix something that took an hour I should pay the price. The truck as of right now has a repair that will take around five hours to complete and that's it.
If it was something major that would knock me out for awhile I could understand but there are people who have been here for a week and no mention of them losing there trucks.Lonesome Thanks this. -

You're misunderstanding me. I'm not saying you should like it....nor am I saying I think it's right. It's just what it is.
I'm also trying to tell you how to talk to your DM so she'll see that you're more concerned for your fleet than yourself. That way she'll do battle for you.
