I woke up in OKC last year it was 106* in my truck. The A/C quit. I was rolling to Laredo and asked for a Tcall in Lancaster. They refused. I told them it was 96* in the truck and 83* outside, By the time I got to Laredo I would be baking a turkey! They let me Tcall it.
I know in KY I was rolling with the windows down in the upper 80's. It was 103* in the truck. The metal strip seperating the rug from the rubber mat was too hot to touch for very long.
I will not sleep in a truck stop with the windows down. That is plain dangerous and stupid!

If the EGR cooler is leaking bluebonn, I spent five days in a motel on the road. It's not an easy job, plus parts have to be ordered. Like most shops, they are swamped and are getting the easy fixes out of the way. They have quota's to meet and that truck probably has to wait on one mechanic that does the difficult repairs.
It makes more sense to put you in another truck. I know it's more of a pride thing, but the older the truck you are in, the closer you are to getting a new truck. Anytime I changed companies, if I couldn't get a newer truck, I would always pick the oldest truck on the yard. Make the best of the situation and work with your DM. You have to maintain a good relationship if you want them miles. That truck isn't going to be there forever. When you work for a large company, you have to deal with large company problems and mentality. -
Blue's truck is a 2010!
I heard there was 60 trucks in Memphis last week waiting for repairs! Swamped! -
If it's a 2010, then it's under warranty and he should be sent to the dealer. Sounds like the shop manager isn't the brightest then.

Yea I understand about giving up your truck I just was not going to do it and one who posted people will drive anything now days your right. Some of the trucks I see at Swift should not even be allowed on thee road. these are usually the older trucks.
I'm just gonna get my time in go to a company that has better equipment. or i will lease a truck.. -
Hey blue, I understand ya bud. I take pride in my ride too, I about had an egg when Werner handed us a truck that look like someone ran the front wheel well into a pole. If people want to drive pos trucks because they don't care let em. I ain't but I will be honest, in the end, it may come down to buying your own
I've discovered this.
Not a Swiftie, but I am just as much trucker as any of these guys and I am totally with you on your stance. No reason to pull a truck from a driver because of minor maintenance delay especially if the only other trucks are pos ones. -
Took a 07 Volvo for the truck I'm in now. Took an older Frieghtliner to a drop yard when I was sitting in the shop. Probably getting it detailed or whatever they do to sell it I'm guessing.
That truck only had 23,000 more miles than the one I'm in now. -
Blue you can ask to run local stuff until your truck is back out. That way you and your DM can make $$
