Congrats on the phone! It's really quite something. You see the commercial about being able to talk and surf at the same time. I always thought.... no big deal, but I'm surprised how much I use that feature.
I still have Verizon for my wireless internet. They do a great job in that department.

the solution for jailbreaking an iphone is usually out less then a week after the new software is released by Apple. I've never seen it take more then 2 weeks. there is a whole side market for jailbreaking and unauthorized apps for the iphone. these guys work hard on keeping you able to jailbreak. once you do you might want to turn off the automatic update feature through itunes so it doesn't cut your phone off and delete all your apps.

From what I have seen there are jailbreak programs for the iPod Touch.

Thanks! I don't know why I was loyal to Verizon for so long. I mean, I always had great service. And I am glad I was able to make it until the 3Gs came out. The added features with it are things I use and have become used to (ie. picture text, video, etc.). And like you I always thought "Meh..." when it came to talking and surfing at the same time, but in the couple weeks I have had my phone now it is one feature that I have used most.

And, AT&T is really surprising me so far with their service. Even when I am out of the 3G area the Edge network is just as fast as I had with Verizon.

    CertifiedSweetie Thanks this.

That's what made me get rid of mine. The second I got away from a major metro it got sketchy. And in NYC or other really populated areas the network was so clogged with iphones that you were lucky to be able to make a call.

Verizon hasn't shown me these issues yet and I actually like the Moto Droid better than my iphone. Surf and talk may be fine but I can run many apps at once. Plus with wifi, which is almost everywhere people go, you can still talk and surf with cdma networks.

I have had an iphone for 2 wks and I'm taking it back. Kept getting searching for service and had to shut phone off and turn it back on. Not to mention everone said I sounded like I was in a barrel. I've been with ATT since 2000 and I'm going to cancel my 4 phones and go to verizon. I recently went to Williston ND and then to Billings back to OKC and had several times with no service for several miles at a time from ATT yet I was streaming radio on my verizon card.

Bummer dude.... I don't think it's AT&T, I think you got a bad phone. Have 'em swap it out before you go through all that other stuff.
