The USF equipment also got kind of switched around a little I remember seeing USF Red Star trailers at the Cleveland USF Holland Terminal, after the Red Star shut down. They stripped the Red Star name off rather quickly, but you could make out the ghost markings.

USF Glenmore was the truck load carrier division for USF they were bought out by Celadon in like 2008-2011 era sometime around there. Glenmore was never a TNT company though.

What I know about Dugan was they were TNT's mid west carrier, they operated in Kansas and states like that basically the middle of the country. I'm not sure what year they ended up going under because USF shut them down, USF shut down a lot of the TNT companies. Bestway and Dugan were both rolled into Reddaway more or less. Bestway was the south west part of the United States and I guess Bestway was always trouble some for USF.

The only TNT company that didn't make it under TNT management was TNT Pilot.

TNT Dugan did make it into Chicago where TNT had a big break bulk terminal where Holland and Dugan and Overland Express, by the way TNT Overland Express was TNT's Canadian LTL carrier. But Holland, Dugan, Overland Express, Distribution Services they all meet at the Chicago Hub.

Yes. Notice how that trailer is flexing under the strain? I wonder how well these modern trailers would handle that maneuver?

Notice that notorious LA smog in the background.

7D13CED3-AB71-47EA-9AE0-CB3EF41A31A7.jpeg I don’t have any knowledge of TNT/USF beyond their basic history and industry gossip, so I stand to learn a lot from this project. The one thing of interest I can offer is that the old KW pictured above was commonly seen running around Portland, Oregon with a lift gate trailer in the 1990’s. They also took the old KW to the big American Truck Historical Society show in Brooks, Ore each year. It seemed to have disappeared around the time of the YRC acquisition.

One other thing noteworthy I can offer about USF is that from the mid 1990’s until the YRC acquisition it was fairly common to see USF Bestway trailers mixed into USF Reddaway line haul sets in the PNW, the PNW was of course Reddaways service area. I was told by one of their drivers this was due to interlining and not a merger attempt.

I had wondered that too, because that Dugan operates in the exact same area and region USF Dugan operated in.
