They always talk about Jerry Detter like he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I don't know what he did good or bad I'm just a person who drudges all this stuff up, what was some of the stuff that he did that you didn't like? I know CF Motor Freight people hated Con-Way and Con-Way has gotten mixed reviews over the years. By people.

He was the President of ConWay Central.....and since all the really good paying freight is in the Central region, he looked like a superstar. So, when they merged us all together, he got to be president of the whole shebang and treated everyone that wasn't from Central like a bunch of hick, red headed stepchildren. He was a pompous jackazz that got his due a couple of years later.

So I was reading in the Conway book. And it was interesting I was kind of just jumping around and I was reading a part of the book that said in the 1980s when the Con-Ways were coming out, the reason for the Con-Ways was CF the actual CF them selves was kind of clunky when it came to 600 mile or less shipments. Con-Way was filling in the holes that were less then 600 miles. So the 3 Con-Way Companies were CCX which was the crown jewel and then Con-Way Western Xpress and Con-Way Eastern Xpress PYX CEX.

I'm almost positive that's a bunch of bull. The Conways were created for one reason and one reason only, to undercut the union and cut CF of all their business and move it over to the Conways. I dont know how in the heck moving freight less than 600 miles could be clunky when you have terminals in #### near every town. Anyways, they succeeded. Got out from under the union.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.
