I always fuelled as close to to my loading point as possible. I want my max weight with full tanks not be worrying about having to run with tanks part empty to scale the load.

I'm planning on going to truck driving school for my CDL in the Spring. I go to truck stops as often as I can and talk with truckers if they're available. Many truckers are busy at truck stops and I don't bother them. Last week I had a good talk with a company driver from Utah who spoke about his job with a small company. I think the more I observe and learn through speaking with experienced truckers the more prepared I'll be in entering the industry.

It is a proven fact that people are far more likely to complain than praise. I find that talking to people often leaves you just as confused, if not more so, than when you started. Truckers are especially bad about ######## since they have nothing to do but stew in their bad attitudes all day.

I always recommend newbies go to truck stops and hang around and ask questions. You will get a lot of fact, and fiction. Just think about it from a practical sense. You want (or you think you want) to get into trucking. This is a new venture and will cost you money. You are already on the internet prowling around, so why not get more info direct from the source. Do not bother drivers on the fuel island. Catch them in the restaurant. The same with driving school. Take a tour of the school BEFORE you plunk down your cash. Sooooo many newbies go into this biz blindly and end up getting out faster than they got in. Why is that? Allow me to answer that question. Because they didn't investigate what to expect. Gather as much info as you can, it will only help you to decide. Knowledge, knowledge, knowledge.

Not about how things can be grasshopper, it's how they are lol. You'll learn. However, since you're based out of Texas, you probably won't be getting stuck on the dirty side all that often.

So tell me why it isn't best to fuel in the morning? I'm rather clueless as to why you say or think that.

Me personally paying for my own fuel... I prefer to buy it first thing in the morning. Mainly because of the costs involved.... I don't want to pump 250-300 gallons of fuel. Go park my truck. Go to sleep. Then wake up in the morning only to find that some worthless pieces of scum siphoned my fuel out of my truck...

At least by fueling 1st. thing in the morning.... You will at least get 700 miles or better off that take of fuel. If some worthless idiot is going to steal my fuel, I'm not topping my tanks off for him... He can steal whats left after a good day of running.

Well, let's just say you have a little more freedom with your logging when you don't have a fuel stop tying you down. :biggrin_25525:
