I felt the same as Redd when I was pulling flats.
You can see it on the road all the time.
If you have a choice who would you rather park next too? A flatbed from some company you have never heard of, or even one of the smaller ones you have, or next to a dry van or reefer from a large fleet?

At shippers and receivers and other stops I have helped and been helped many times by other flatbed drivers. Tarping, chaining, jump starts, directions, etc.

I am not currently pulling a flat. The company I was with had to lay off over half the fleet to stay with our freight volume. It happens, and I was next on the seniority list to get laid off.
I will be back on them again one day, but until then I still work the same way I did then.
I will still help any driver I can. I carry 20' jumper cables, 50' air hose, and basic tools, and I know how to use them lol.
I believe that the "brotherhood of trucking" is still alive, it is just more noticeable in a smaller segment of the industry than before. Flat bedders and some others are doing what they can to keep it alive.
The more people that these drivers meet and help, the more drivers will come to this group.

No matter what you drive remember this.
Help when you can. Spend a few bucks to have the things that you need to help, like the jumper cables and air hose. You may even need to help yourself some time, and getting a jump is allot faster than waiting for a service truck.

    JustSonny Thanks this.
