I drove a million miles in a semi-truck, not on a video game.
It is bad form to belittle a truck driver for discussing the maneuverability of CMVs.
Who dictated that it's your job to judge me?
Let's stay on task. Re-read the OP to see what the task is.

If you want to continue posting on this thread, why not discuss tandem placement or turning radius? I asked a question about turning radius in post #138 that nobody has answered yet.

Forget about the truck and trailer for a minute. Pretend you're in a pickup. Which one has a tighter turning radius - a pickup that's 200' long, or a pickup that's 20' long?
Now apply it to a semi truck. When you slide up the fifth wheel, it makes everything shorter. Do the math. Nobody answered the question because it should be obvious to anyone. Especially someone who knows what a "ray" is.
Also...
That is F'n scary.Hammer166, Wasted Thyme, Rideandrepair and 3 others Thank this. -
YOu did not bother to read my post #138. My question on post #138 is not "Why does sliding the fifth wheel forward allow a tighter turning radius?" My question on post #138 is "have you ever slid your fifth wheel forward just to tighten the turning radius around an obstacle?" I've had a lot of trucking teammates in my career. And I've never seen one of them slide a fifth wheel forward just to tighten the turning radius around an obstacle. I imagine it's mighty darn rare, but I don't want to have to imagine. So I asked the question
What is scary about what I taught my students? What did I get wrong in post #138? -
Hammer166, Wasted Thyme, God prefers Diesels and 1 other person Thank this.
