I’m not exactly sure what goes on under the hood as it relates to that but it feels to me like the trailer will push you all over the place with a dry fifth wheel, especially in my line of work where running tail heavy is not uncommon.

I had one load last week where the trailer tandem outweighed the single drive by 14K.

My car is front wheel drive. I don't even know exactly what "ball joints on a car" are. I mean, I suppose that they are something that joins two things. But I don't know anything beyond that whatsoever.

Thank you for trying, but I am not knowledgeable enough about cars for your explanation to help

Exactly! Another example is when you have a bent wheel rim, all sorts of shenanigans can occur!

It is refreshing to see someone (correctly) think that I am not trolling for a change.

I never troll. I am always trying to learn. People here are always mystified at how I don't know these things with as much experience as I have. I think that maybe people who come to this message board are a selected group. Since we come here to discuss trucking and learn about trucking, I think thetruckersreport might select for truckers with above average knowledge of trucking compared to the average truck driver that does not bother to be a member of this message board.

To be fair, I didn't know trucks had kingpins either, until I joined this forum and started paying attention to the many threads offering technical information.

However, common sense still dictates that when two moving metal objects come into contact with each other, they must be kept lubricated or bad things happen.

And this tells us you’ve not driven a truck like you said you have, because anybody can feel a dry fifth wheel!

    Ok here’s any easy one!
Did anyone ever teach you to open a hood and check fluid levels?
Teach you how to do a pre trip and post trip?
    (Serious questions)

Crude Truckin' and Kyle G. Thank this.
