There's nothing worse than having to set your tandems on a trailer only to find they're darn near rusted tight.
I've seen a couple tools out there that look interesting.
Has anyone ever used the Sta-Rat or the Tandem Stopper?
Any other suggestions on tools?

The biggest hand sledge you can swing accurately, I use a 4 lb engineer's hammer. A good flashlight to actually see what is going on. A 24 inch pipe wrench to turn the rotary pin pullers on some older trailers. I haven't had any rusted solid but some are difficult to retract the pins on.
I have the spring pin pullers as well, some trailers just don't release without them. The trailers with the lever can be very troublesome, the linkage gets bent or broken, these can try your patience and use all of your ingenuity to release them, Most 53 foot trailers have two pins on each side, and most 48 foot trailers have one.

I used two four x four blocks to back against, or pull up against. I used a slide-lock release of the older coil-spring style, and a three-pound hammer.
You may have to adjust the trailer brakes. Place the chock blocks behind the tires. Pull forward a short distance. Back up, apply the hand valve just before hitting the blocks. Repeat. -
The Sta-Rat is the best tool out there.
Roxy1030 Thanks this.
