Can anyone give me some insight into Tandem Transport out of Michigan City Indiana? I am curious about the run of the mill information such as:

    --Op area?
--home time; every weekend or 3 out of 4 weekends a month?
--what loads (commodities) do they deal with?
--does the company listen to the driver or just don't care?
--how do they get you to orientation; bus, train, car?

    Anything useful would be appreciative.

No info on this outfit hun? I'd really like to know more about Tandem. I'd speak to their drivers if I could but I don't cross paths with them. All I know about them is from their website.

@mile marker- I was interested in GAL but never went forward with them. For the past 9 months I have been pulling tanker hauling gas and diesel. I'd rather pull a flatbed.

I worked for Tandem Transport from 2011 - 2012 in the Michigan City, IN office. I started there as a temp helping with the driver recruitment process. They operate east of the Mississippi. Not sure about their hometime. They deal with primarily construction materials. All trailers are flatbed and you could be required to tarp depending on the materials being hauled and client requirements. They pay for tarping as long as the customer has agreed to pay them. They claim to listen to the driver, but some drivers will say otherwise.
finally, getting you to orientation will depend on where you live. Typically, they used to rent a car for the trainee coming the furthest away and he/she would pick up other drivers on their way in depending on where they were coming from. All orientation is done in Michigan City. They expect you to arrive by Sunday evening and they put you up in a hotel for that night. Then you'll be met early Monday morning and escorted to the Tandem Transport campus where you'll spend the week. They provide rooms at the office site for their drivers as well as breakfast. You'll need to bring money with you for meals. (If there's any chance you won't make it through the initial drug screening and other pre-employment testing, make sure you have money to get yourself home coz you'll be on your own if you don't.) I know these answers are rather late, but I saw nobody was replying...

All hiring is done through the Michigan City, Indiana, location. They have recruiters in Tennessee and Georgia, but the hiring process is completed in Michigan City, IN.
