Does anyone know of decent tanker companies that have terminals in NC? I want to get on the phone and call some of these folks to see if they're hiring. Ideally, I'm looking for regional or local routes (Eastern NC) since I'm still working on getting my wife through her class C driving process (she's a recent immigrant), but if I have to, I'll do OTR to survive. I just need a list of folks to call.

Former military and I've got just about 12 years of OTR and local (mostly local) experience and got out of trucking in 2004...now I'm falling back to experience and looking to get back in. :D Working on getting my CDL back through Sage's refresher here at the beginning of July, unless something comes up.

I think I've seen that Quality Carriers has a facility in NC, but not sure on the others, plus there's got to be some gas haulers around. Not sure who's hiring right now, but it never hurts to ask. ;)

**Edit** Hmm, did I post this in the wrong section? My bad.

I work for Superior Carriers out of High Point NC. We also have a terminal in Wilmington. We have been pretty busy of late out of High Point. I have an ongoing thread in the company DAC report section that will give you an idea of how they run you out of High Point.

Thanks for the info; looks like I'm evenly placed between both of those locations...2.5 hours away, lol.

Yep, I'm now reading your thread and also the one from that fella that started working for QC as well. Great stuff! Both sound like real professional organizations.

You might want to look onto Tidewater Transit or Transport. I believe they are headquartered out of Kinston NC.

Thanks for that! Got them on my list of places to check. Talked with Carry Transit and Schneider Bulk today. Carry Transit said they may have something coming up soon and to get my app in when I finish school. The 5 year gap in my experience might be an issue based on talking with CT (and by extension, Superior I would suppose...haven't talked to them yet); however, that might be alleviated somewhat if I can score well in school...makes we want to consider a full course rather than an 80 hour refresher in order to look better. Gotta do what ones gotta do I suppose. :)

Schneider Bulk had nothing in Eastern NC, which I kind of expected. I've got time on my hands, so I'm sure I'll turn up something by the time I work through class again.

You might want to check out hauling fuel. Selma, N.C. is a loading point for fuel and I know that Wilco and Eagle haul quite a bit of fuel out of Selma. The few years that I hauled fuel , I can honestly say that for the time and effort, I was well satisfied with the money. Check with the fuel companies.

FYI Carry Transit is the food grade side of Superior Carriers. It may be possible to work out a deal where you park a Superior truck at a Carry terminal for home time. Call the terminal managers directly. They make the call hiring with approval from corporate.

Yep, I started talking with CT first because they have a yard here in town (looks to be managed by the Alabama terminal), but I'm not afraid of commuting if I have to. Spent over a decade in socal commuting 60 miles each way, lol. I've got quite the list going. :D
