They are definitely on my list. I'm kind of in a weird spot at the moment; I just got offered a job working in my non-trucking industry with a longtime friend yesterday...but there's no real bennies with it. I'm unemployed, so any job I get is pretty much the priority since I need to make house payments, but I still want to get back on the road, lol. I guess on Monday, when I find out the details of this job offer, I'll make a decision. I'm kinda thinking that if I take the job, I'll still go to Sage and just do the night/weekend classes....then make a move.

If you got mostly local expireience and you been out of truck since 2004, more then likely you will have to go thru training all over again. Try the company with the orange trucks, they have tankers. I work for a tank company based in NC. They require 5 years otr. in the last 5 years. Most tank places are not hiring these days. if you want to do local, you can go work for Eagle out of Rockymount. They have a guarantee pay of $600 or better per week, from what I hear.

Things are on hold for the time being. One of my old friends hired me to do full time internet work, but I do plan to look at doing the class there in a few months just in case the new job doesn't go as planned (it's economically vulnerable like everything else these days). Needed the money, lol.

For Latefreight regarding the orange trucks - last resort choice...been there and done that for 11 years. ;)

Sorry to hear that, but good to hear you found a job that's not at West (because they seem to be the only people hiring in Rocky Mount right now...). I'm in the program now (we've wrapped the classroom portion at this point) but I was going to give you a tip on how to mess with one of the weekend instructors. Oh well.

    Anyways, good luck

Heh, yea, I'd never work for a place like West. Call centers and being a part of that whole scheme goes against the grain. I'm working down in Wilson, so my escape from Rocky Mount is slowly starting...one of these days I'll sell the house and move, lol. RM is kind of on a downhill slide it seems.

    Seems? lol

The city on the rise...because when you're on the bottom, there's nowhere left to go but up...

This city is dying. We're slowly losing everything about Rocky Mount that made it survivable/tolerable. We can't keep anything around here. And besides that, I've lived in and visited a lot of places in the US and never have I lived in a more racially divided place than this one.

Which makes me look at this outerloop/bypass road they're building with even more irony...at first I asked "why in the blue bloody h_ll do we need a bypass?" Then I thought about it...who wouldn't want to bypass this place?

Best of luck to ya in Wilson
